I have lots of comic related customs in my main thread (see my sig) but here they are for all you comic book fans out there…
Until Marvel Scape comes out, I will be keeping these in my main thread also. If the points and the powers prove to be incompatible with MHS then I will remove them...

Hellboy and the BPRD Boxed Set.
These premiered in the Codex issue #7.
http://hscodex.com/
Here are the Marvel Heroscape cards for the BPRD team. My earlier BPRD cards reflected the movie versions of the characters (especially Abe and Liz), while these more closely represent the characters as portrayed in the Dark Horse comic books. As usual, your comments are welcome.

From the future (of 1974) I bring you DEATHLOK...
The figure is a Heroclix from the Marvel Sinister set. I picked one up from the local comic shop for 50 cents... Edited 7/9/06 to clarify the powers. Edited 7/15/06 To simplify the Laser power. Edited 8/3/07 to change to Marvel card and to clarify powers.
Here is my TNT Approved Deathlok

Wolverine
The figure is the Free Comicbook Day Heroclix give away figure. If you didn't get one last May, ask around and I'm sure many comic shops have some left.

Luke Cage

Luke is a Heroscape figure.

From the pages of Hellboy comes... Rasputin, the mad monk. He keeps your team alive and himself, too. The figure is an Indy Heroclix and should run you several pennies plus a buck or two shipping.

The Fin Head - Savage Dragon is another old figure - from the 1990s.

Iron Fist (not the Motorhead song!) He's a Heroclix figure.

The BPRD - Hellboy, Lobster, and the Agents are Heroclix, and Abe and Liz are Gatcha vending machine figures I got from a vending machine.

I've got a full set of Hellboy figs on reserve at a local game shop. 1 set of good guys in a box, & 1 set of bad guys in a box. Can't wait 'til I get the money to go pick them up. $15 each for 7 figs ($30 for 14 total)
Most places that carry the set are clearancing 'em out. Might try calling around to game stores in your area.

Tres cool, Doc. And your Photo Fu is so much better than mine. My Iron Fist (in the MacG topic) uses the same clicky, but your art is much purtier.
I love the Hellboy stuff. What is the Gatcha machine? (I want an Abe Sapien, too!)

Are those figure sets the metal minis or are they plastic prepainted?
MacG - The Gatcha figures are sold in vending machines in all kinds of places - comic shops, bowling alleys, etc. The ones I usually see are are simpson figures and Marvel mini-bobble heads.

Wow! I've never seen your Deathlok, Doc! Thermal Scanning is a very creative power/trade-off.
"Shut up." If funny as heck, but I was never a Deathlok reader - what was up with the character - Schizo?
And Rasputin - I didn't know there was a figure. I've gotta get those Hellboy/BPRD figures!!!

Deathlok was a rebuilt guy who was constantly bickering with his computer self. Hence he's Human and Cyborg...
There is a Gatcha Hellboy and Rasputin but they are way too big... The Heroclix ones are better.

As far as I can tell, there are 2 versions out there. 1 is 7 piece sets of unpainted metal figures, the other is 5 piece sets of painted metal figs. Unfortunately, when shopping online people like to post the wrong pictures with the stuff, so you get painted pics advertising bare metal and vice-versa. Distributed by Steve Jackson games as part of the official Hellboy Minitures game. Since they're actual game figs, they even come with stat cards which is kinda cool.
There's a 5-piece set of villains on E-bay right now if you want to take a look. Item number: 8816925709 If you are interested, I'd double check with the seller to make SURE they are the painted ones.

The Steve Jackson minis are not painted.
If memory serves they are also small.

With all the Wolverine talk on the other thread, I thought I would put my take on him here also...
As soon as we see the official cards, we'll know if these are way too weak or not...

Nice work, Doc, especially on Iron Fist. My only cavet is that I think Luke Cage could use at least one more point of defense. When your big claim to super-powered fame is unbreakable skin, him having the same defense as Rasputin seems a little weird.
Doc_Savage
January 30th, 2007, 03:15 PM
Yeah, Rasputin should probably be a 2 or 3 defense.... After we see Marvel Scape, these all may need adjusting...

To the Doc - I have a question ... especially since you have that pulp vibe going ... have you done a Phantom custom? I was looking at using one of the Heroclix Blue Beetle figs as a base to start with ... but I thought I might ask you first. Especially since I haven't done one in probably 17-18 years now. I couldn't find one with the search engine. - Joe

Sorry Joe - didn't see your post until now... I have never read the Phantom and have no knowledge of his powers and/or abilities and no interest in doing a custom of him... I'm sure there are any number of Heroclix that would serve as the base for a repaint...

Doc quick question where did you get the bases for Hellboy and BPRD?
Doc_Savage
February 20th, 2007, 03:24 AM
Hellboy and the BPRD - I used Warmachine bases I think. They are a little smaller than HS bases. I also custom mixed the paint - these were made before the discovery of Testors Master Modeller spray paint - light Earth color. Thanks GBob or Annerios or whoever posted that tasty tidbit.

Ok...you sold me! I've read the latest Heroscape codex. (BTW you almost had me believing there was an Heroscape(official) expansion for Hellboy). Very click! So I went and bought the Hellboy set off of a vendor on Ebay just so I could have these great figures & your excellent cards for play in Marvel Heroscape.
So the question is, do you have the cards available anywhere somewhere here (This thread appears to have only the old versions) ? Or do I need to just extract them from the Codex? :)
Great stuff man!

Is that the color used for the classic HS bases? Any idea what color matches the gray used in the Marvel bases?

Thanks, Floyd!
This set premiered in the Codex and has never been seen anywhere before. The cards will all appear here after the Codex has been out for a week or so. The first set of cards I made ages ago are the Movie versions of the characters and these new ones are the comic book versions.
The Hellboy set is also available at many game and comic book retailers.

This is referring to my original movie version set of Hellboy figures. Yes, the Testors Light Earth color matches very closely the classic scape base color. I haven't begun to look for a match for Marvel Scape base color.

Hey Doc,
On the new Hellboy card. The special ability:Samaritan Pistol Special Attack.
Well, its mostly just nitpicky...but the movie is the 1st time (that I am aware of) that the pistol is actually named.
I think in the comic its just referred to as the pistol Torch of Liberty gave him.
I just mention this because you say the new batch of cards is based (more)on the comic.

None of the figures (except Hellboy) are actually molded with the scenic elements. They are glued on, and with a bit of work with an xacto knife - be careful, sharp tool - you can remove the figures from the scenery. I seem to remember Ben Daimio being the hardest.
