Getting to meet Craig and discussing all the new HS stuff was a definate highlight at Comic-Con, but there were others.
In this thread I'll be posting (chronalogically) my outing in San Diego (with pics).
So I arrive Friday just before 10am (opening time). And once you get off the freeway, traffic was jam packed!!! At one intersection I noticed that there didn't seem to be much traffic on the side street and I thought,
"Damn these people!!! Slaves to Mapquest!!!"
So I took advantage, made a right and a left and was cruising down the side street while mile upon mile of people sit with brakelights on, staring at a map printout. I make it to the front of the Convention Center in no time at all.
I noticed there was a parking lot RIGHT ACCROSS THE STREET!!! I pulled up and the girl told me that this was reserved for XYZ grocery store and only patrons were allowed. But she also let something slip about only having room for a couple of non-customers. So I offered her a 5 spot and I parked less than a 100 yards away from the Con Doors.
I zoomed through lines only to greeted with a,
"Welcome to Comic-Con, Sir"

I was in Nerd Heaven!!!

I don't walk 10 ft past the trooper, before I notice a whole slew of jedi (once with yoda on his back) and a newswoman. I kept hearing,
"It's not good form to put your hands on the saber part. You would loose a hand."
But the newswoman kept palming the saber and rambling off her signature line as she played up to the camera. I was something like,
"So check out COMIC-CON, where The Force is out in force!"
"So check out Comic-Con, where THE FORCE is out in force... Better."

Seemed like she didn't want to be there at all.
So lame.

I went and checked out Dreamblade, but there was nothing really to report. Just the trophy, behind glass.
So off to check for the Venture Bros. Was gonna get a signing, but the line was insane!!!
So made my way back tward the HS booth, dragging my feet. Dman was still a ways from getting here and I was waiting for him before I hit the booth.
Ran into Barriss Offee and Asajj Ventress.

"HOT DAMN!!! Is that the GhostRider Bike!!!"
It sure as hell was!!!

Also stumbled across a Lego Batman.

There were many laughs during the panel. It was great!!!

• You'd think the news channel could make some effort to give the assignment to someone who can show a little interest in the convention.
• Asajj Ventress! I concur with CA: that is awesome!
• Those Fett costumes look terrific. There a too many junk Fetts out there. But those are both really well done.
• GAH! They have tiles behind the HS logo! I thought I was being original!
• Okay, I take back my comment about having the sniper take a shot at the marketing rep. I also need to add that those black HS polos look really nice.
• The GR bike looks awesome. Not only the design, but the lights really add to it as well!
• Lego Batman?! I mean, seriously, can you imagine getting paid to put that together? "What do you mean you need overtime?"
"Well, I'm working on the Lego Batman statue."
"Oh."
• Lucy Lawless is blonde?! Whoa... that's hot. Heh heh...

That looks a lot like Tricia Helfer (aka the humanoid Cylon Number 6) in the Battlestar Galactica panel photos ... I have no color memory, so I don't remember if Lucy Lawless' character D'Anna Biers was blond or not ...

Oogie, I'll ask you to settle a seeming conflict of information between two different attendees....
Doc says the wave five stuff is packaged as seen on the shelf...armadillos with wolves, blastarons with ullar warriors, allskulls says utgar armadillos are with the ullar warriors, putting the wolves and blastatrons together.
Which is it? Did you get to see the packages like they did? Or look at the backs of the boxes, which would tell is a TON of info, like the actual names of the figures?

Anyway....I love sci-fi and comic geek girls. Sigh. One of the first post college girlfriends I had was a total sci-fi geek. She used to dress up for cons and everything with her girlfriends. I like it when they're total geeks about stuff I'm not even into, just so I can sort of learn about a new geeky world.
When traveling through the world of the geeks, it's best to have a hot female guide dressed like the Huntress.

well I have to disagree with Mr. Feel Good.
They had the 2 hr pilot last Tuesday. They did a good job of laying the background and the charecter development. QUICK review. US Marshal driving through town gets cought up in an investigation. He is brought into the inner circle and told thr truth about Eureka. It is a town set up by Einstein and FDR back in '44. So the best and the brightest live and work here. Nothing it wierd to them, but the outsider US marshal if freaked by everything. THey find a way to get him to stay there.
Not sure if it's a sit-com or a drama. They foreshadowed some bad dudes coming at the end of the premire.
jcb231
July 25th, 2006, 11:35 AM
I'll elaborate on it's chunk-blowingness.....
Bad acting by most of the cast, as if they don't want to be there or are embarassed to be in such dreck (and they should be). Of particular note is the Marshall's daughter Zoey....she's more annoying than Kim Bauer on 24 ever was. You want him to just leave her in the town jail and drive away.
I think this show could have been good if they'd really commited it to being a comedy OR a drama....having it be sort of both is extremely awkward. Of course, they'd also need a much better script. The storyline is nothing we haven't seen before in various sci-fi shows or disaster movies, which would be fine if it was interesting or well-crafted.....nope.
Production values are sort of....eh. Special effects are mediocre, even for TV. Wide shots of the town look really fake, and there doesn't seem to be any reason for that....why couldn't they just find a nice, real small town to shoot in? Shots of all kinds of crazy crap happening don't really instill any sense of the wonders of science.
I just thought it was terrible, in other words. Best part of the whole thing was the preview for BSG season 3. Other than that it was 2 hours of wasted life. I hung on to the end hoping it would turn around, hoping SOMETHING would happen to make me care. Wrong.

Euraka... I saw the Pilot..... it was OK... an interesting sense of humor. I might watch one here or there.

BSG Spoilers Below
The two biggest spoilers, were that the humans were going to start extreme tactics against the Cylons... in the form of suicide bombing!
Also, the humans will develop a type of "pandemic virus" that will be used against the Cylons.
These two slipped when Almos was trying to explain how real life issues find their way into the media (middle east/bird flu).
Other things like - the people you been waiting to hook up... will.
Oh.. and the season premiere will jump 6 more months into the future.

• That's what you get Oog, for rolling with the Dark Side.
• I'd rather be caught between her Light side, nahwudimsayin'? Heh, but seriously, Anakin looks a lot like Hayden Christiansen, and his cool costume helps, too.
• Whoa... Chewbacca actually looks like he's smiling!
• My, how Stewie has grown...
• More great costumes... though it looks like the Princess and Mario are overcome by Oog's celestial radiance!
• Oog caught once again between the light side and the dark side... and did I mention Slave Leia's light side? Yeah, okay... moving on...
• "And I'll form the head!"
• Okay, that Wonder Woman is so much hotter than all the others posted... and she even has the lasso!!

Did you ever get threatened by any bouncers for taking pictures of the "special guests"? I was snapping pictures of the "special guests" at GenCon last year and had one bouncer start heading my way to stop the photoshoot (only took about 5 pictures total.) It was funny but kinda sad. Personally I don't really care to meet celebs....they are just people and the ones I've met before made me go "meh" on meeting others but the way this guy acted was like I was stealing something. I wasn't even close to the celebs but a full aisle away. I was just snapping a photo of Gil Gerard (his bouncer didn't care) since he looks like a guy I know and then just decided to snap some photos of the other celebs there at the "special guests" area. The bouncer who cared was working for a certain celeb who made it famous in a certain movie about demonic possession. :D

From Wikipedia:
Stan Lee (born Stanley Martin Lieber on December 28, 1922, New York City) is an American writer, editor, Chairman Emeritus of Marvel Comics and memoirist, who — with several artist co-creators, especially Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko — introduced complex, naturalistic characters and a thoroughly shared universe into superhero comic books. Threatend, no. Mostly they would tell me to move along. You can't stand here.
It was actually quite funny. I would walk in a little circle (some times only walk 2 feet in one direction before circling back). I would shuffle my feet like a little old grandpa. And they would say, "I told you you cant stand here."
I would say, "I know... I'm leaving..... right.................... (click) now."
Then I would make another circle by a different security guard and do the same thing. They wern't going to really do anything.
Was there any news on the "new" Transformer Movie and by any chance a picture or two. MY god I must start planning for next year Comic Con.
Yes... you MUST come to Comic-Con next year!!!
As far as the Transformer Movie, there were some pannel discussions, but I didn't make it to any of those. I did hear that Prime WAS going to be a diesel truck and would be over two stories high.
Rumors of transforming Ipod's may not be that far off.
I did here that the new Transformers would be ascimilating MODERN technology in the new movie.
And there was a Comic-Con exclusive Nemisis Prime that transformed into a Dodge Ram SRT (just found that out lately).
I really got to go for more than one day next year.
