Howdy.

I was posting to the collection threads to update my count totals when I decided I didn't want to have to figure out what the heck I was at since I'd last posted. So I made a little calculator that I could just punch in how many I had of whatever and it would give me my totals and such.

Here it is for anyone else who'd like to use it: http://www.heroscapers.com/community/downloads.php?do=file&id=1765

Future versions will allow for differentiation between whether it is a set, just the figures, or just the tiles.

p.s. The promo figures are not included in the spending estimate.

EDIT: Now allows for the individual flag bearers and each version of RotV.

11/13/07 - v.2.0 - A GUI (Graphical User Interface) designed by DurinsBane has been added.

8/29/09 - v.4 - Now includes all the latest and future releases. I've assumed that the tiles in the wave 10 Soulborgs and Warriors & Soulborgs packs will remain snow. The collection completeness also doesn't care whether you got those two packs in wave 5 or wave 10 and doesn't care if you enter in the Champions of Renown pack or just each of the promos individually. The entering and results pages got a reorganizing, they are now separate pages. The excel sheets are protected, but not by password, so you can make any alterations you'd like.

Please report any and all mistakes so I can get them corrected. Hope you enjoy my dinky little doodad.

Good job, Windy!

I would have posted the one I use for running the counts as well as my personal collection, but I just never got around to it. Excel is great for stuff like that.

I expect everybody's counts to be spot on now!

Thanks a lot! But I don't understand how you calculate set completeness. Could you explain it for me please? Thanks!
Edit: I found it!

Thanks, Wind Lane. I've downloaded and I'm gonna give it a whirl.

:edit: You may want to seperate out each of the Flag Bearers, rahter than just listing them as one set. Mamy, like me, may only have one or two of them.

Yeah, I was thinking that I needed to do that. I think of the FBs as a Large Figure set, but sold individually. I'll get that into the next version that I'll post.

This is really nice, but it made me face how much I've actually paid out. Yikes!!

Really though, great job.

Thank you all for the kind words, it's just a stupid piece of spread sheet.

I've got an updated version just waiting for approval that'll allow for individual flag bearers to be added as well as the different versions of RotV to be added.

And as an FYI for those who don't know what the different versions are, it works like this:Rise of the Valkyrie v.1 - Sparkly water, red attack dice, blue defense dice.
Rise of the Valkyrie v.2 - Solid water, red attack dice, blue defense dice.
Rise of the Valkyrie v.3 - Solid water, combined attack/defense dice.

Is money really the important thing here? I mean really if you only spend $40 on this game are you really a fan or just a passerby...

I think you can be a fan and only have spent $40.

You'd have to be a poor fan for that to work though.

Sweet, I finally have enough time to post my counts. Ouch, I think I only paid about 80% of what it is saying I did, but I guess some people have to pay that full amount.

Ah, you cursed me! My dollar total is calculated at $666!

Anyway , good job! Now I can participate in the "Count" threads without spending crazy amounds of time actually counting!

New version of the calculator is up. DurinsBane has created a really nifty GUI for it.

Many thanks to DurinsBane for making the whole thing look more like a program and less like a spreadsheet.

It's password protected??? Can't get into the GUI. Forgive my ignorance if I am just missing something.

When does the password protection kick in? I've never had to type in a password for it and I didn't write the GUI, so this latest version isn't directly from me.

EDIT: I just downloaded it myself and didn't come into contact with any password requirements. Could it be your computer or how you've got Excel setup?

I'd bet dollars to donuts that djsmith has High Macro security enabled (using a computer at school or work?).

Remember that GUIs in Excel are controlled by Macros (small applications) and as such can represent a security threat. An administrator of a school or corporation would be wise to disable (or require a password to run) unsigned macros.

That was my guess as well, though not as thoroughly explained.

Anyone going to update the file for wave 9? I know very little about Excel so I cannot do it myself.

Wow....has it really been almost two years since I updated? Well then, guess I better get to it.

Version 4 of the Collection Calculator is now available in the downloads section. The link is in the first post.

Let me know how you guys like it.

Till now I've paid $476 (not including the shipping costs for US-Greece deliveries) and I only posses the 37% of Heroscape. That's scary!!!

Is there a remedy for this? :)

Thank you Windlane for getting us face to face with our obsession ;)

Wind Lane

That's actually not so bad on the obsession front. Accord to the calculator I've spent close to $2000. ;)

Though that's not really true since I bought a lot of my stuff via sales and discounts. Maybe in some future version I'll provide a way to record what you paid for a particular item. :)

Nah, don't feel ashamed. I tried it out and it says I spent about $311, which is actually too high because of things like Walmart and TRU clearance :D

Nothing to be ashamed about - I'm the one who's spent (what feels like) too much money on this game (but isn't because of how much I enjoy it.)

And just go Dr. Weirdscaper's route to collection growing: put an amount of money aside that you can absolutely afford each pay/allowance period and buy stuff that you want. And if there's nothing you want, put the money aside for next time you look. His collection puts mine to shame, but he's been very frugal and patient in slowly and steadily building it. He's pretty much the poster child for controlled spending to amass mountains of scape. :)

I fully agree with you Wind Lane, but "Controlled spending" needs a lot of self discipline and is extremely hard to manifest especially under the unfluence of such a powerful obsession as Heroscape. Well that's only if you have achieved a high level of obsession of course, which I think counts for most of us in here :p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p

I'm also amazed by Dr. Weirdscaper's awesome collection. His work on mapmaking is truly unbelievable. I think it would be nice to hear his story and get some insight from his "controlled spending" experience...

I asked him about it - it's right there in his map thread. I paraphrased his answer as best as I can remember above.
