With the Super Custom community bustling the way it is, I feel the need to ask a question to all of our customizing friends...

When you finally get a figure you want, how do you base it? Since Heroclix are the figures of choice, do you just leave them on their clix? Do you put them on a Heroscape base? If so, Classic of Marvel? Do you make your own bases, or steal them from your extra Master Sets?

As I haven't actually gotten any custom figures yet... I can't answer very well. Though I'd probably take some bases from other 'Scape figures...

I just stick with the Clix bases. But, then, I'm not very crafty ...

My Gaming group use heaps of clix figures in supers style games. Most of them are still on their Clix bases, but some have been rebased onto HS RotV spares. The only ones I have rebased, are fliers that are too high. Eg: Magneto, Human Torch, Superman. I repaint the bases to match the Marvel ones and have used some printable base stickers that a fellow gamer said he got from this site. If I had more figures to sacrifice for bases I would probably re-base them all. I may experiment with Games Workshop bases later though.

I keep them on Heroclix bases until I'm done playtesting the figure, and then I put them on Heroscape bases. I make my own bases from molds, and paint them and print out decals to match the Marvel bases for all Superhero customs. I wouldn't mind just leaving them on the Heroclix bases, but they don't fit into ladders. :(

Since the bases for MS are black, you should be able to go to a wargaming store and pick up a pack of 25 for like 6 bucks. I don't know if someone has made a MS sticker like they did for HS yet.

I made some stickers (see my sig for the customizing tools). The bases are more gray than black, but I found a paint at the hobby shop the other day that is almost exactly the same shade. I can't remember the name of the color now, but I can look it up when I'm at home.

Hey Grey Owl, I just realised it is your stickers I have been using on my rebased figures. Thanks heaps man.

The sheet I have have has all the base sizes on it, Though I did photoshop a sheet together of only the smaller round bases, because I use far more of them.

I agree that the Marvel bases are a dark grey, I use a colour i mixed up myself.

Not all of my figures are on Scape style bases though.
I have just now finished gluing 12 of the Heroclix Black knight figures to Games Workshop Clear Flying bases. They are going to be a set of 4 common squads of Evil Henchmen on Hoverbikes.

That brings up a good question. For those that use HeroClix figures (most of us), how are you rebasing the ones that fly? Are you putting the clear stand on the Heroscape base, or just putting the figure on there as is?

The flying Clix figures that i have re-based have been pretty simple.
Any figure that is in a standing or mostly upright pose, has been put straight onto the new base. But things that don't have the ability to stand on the base (Green Goblin, Hobgoblin, Black Knight, etc) or are lying flat (Superman) need a stand to hold them.

I wouldn't mind just leaving them on the Heroclix bases, but they don't fit into ladders. :(You just aren't pushing hard enough ;)

but seriously I can get clix bases to fit in the ladders. It is a tight squeeze, but I haven't had one that won't fit (yet).

I rebase - but I am running out of bases...

Now I have to decide if I am gonna rebase my rebased supers that are on classic bases...

Is there a source for just bases out there?

Take the HeroCLIX off their bases, repaint HS bases Black (Yes, I know the bases are a variant blue), print new stickers, some super or hot glu and POW! new HS SuperHero

Since most flying HeroClix figs fit in the same clear stand, I just cut off the top of one and super-glued it to the top of the clear stand that Silver Surfer was on after removing him.

It looks a little home-made when no figure is on it, but is not noticeable as long it is in use. (I'll try to post pics later)

In general, I like to use official Marvel HS bases for my HeroClix conversions. I bought an additional Marvel MS for the terrain anyway, so I am using the duplicate figs bases.

Well I no longer do this. I started having problems with the larger off centered figures, like Super-Adaptoid, not sticking to the base. So, with as suggestion of XRaine69, I do my customs differently.
Here are some PICs.

Step 1. Cut HeroCLIX Figure off base. CAREFULLY

Step 2. Remove sticker from HeroScape Base.

Note: Repaint if desired.

Step 3. Prepare MarvelScape Base Sticker.
Print, Cut, Position figure, Punch hole,

Step 4. Affix Figure to Base.
Affix Sticker, Add glue, Position figure,
