Yep, velenne is taking to D/FW gaming group like a duck to water.

I will be able to make this one.

(I havn't missed one since I got "fully in the fold"...I just keep speculatating that I might ;-) just me making sure the Ry-man's presence is wanted.)

Drinking a Guiness is like eating a sandwich.

Everytime I have been hungry and then drank a Guiness (I'm not a big fan of beer, more of liquor, so its only been a couple of times) I was no longer hungry.

Guiness very filling.

Velenne
May 11th, 2006, 11:21 PM
That's because Guiness is GOOD for you!! It's every major food group...well it's its own food group which, eh, encompasses all groups because that's just...the magic of Guiness.

if I am back in Texas I might try and make it. Specially since I will probably be taking vacation at that time and will be spending the 4th east of there on Lake Tawakoni.

Probably will be gone for 4th of July weekend but June date at Ninthdocs looks good.

Can't go wrong with Shiner, the beer brewed with an attitude.

I want to make it, but I think that weekend my house is going to resemble a small daycare..

Chances initial: 15%.
I had a brain fart.. I was thinking June 1st..

Chances current: 60%.

I'm definitely in!

GB, I hated making mine 2 weeks away from yours, but it was the only weekend I had available. We haven't missed a month yet and I was not prepared to start now. I hope that there are not too many folks that have to decide between one or the other, but rather plan either to attend the one that is more convenient for them or both (even better, yet).

Well, I'm there in spirit, damnit -- and I'll drink a beer or ten on that night just for you guys.
(The fact that I normally drink that much on a weekend is irrelevant)

Did I mention that there will be free beer?

* quickly calculates the cost of airfares, visas, transfers and accomodation against the amount of free beer I could drink in a weekend *

* hmmmmm, no need to include meals in costing, as Guiness is its own food group *

* hmmmmm, it's a strong possibility. Very do-able *

How many do you want. I have 4 ice sets. Bunches of RttFF and masters. The ice from the big order won't ship until after Thora's arrives (they will ship together).

So how much stuff would you like me to bring?

Man, last Saturday was a blast! I'm still flying from it! Sunday we didn't do anything. I told my wife that she gave me the perfect Father's Day weekend!

Maybe that's why IM is so darn cranky.

I am seriously going to put together a Morning Scape get together at some time in the future. We'll see how many make it. I'm betting IM, ninthdoc, UPC, and GB will all make it having not been to bed at all.

I may not make it, Markwars. I usually hit the sack about 1 or 1:20 in the morning. Weekends I go to bed at 3 or 4.

And I am not cranky, you ********ing ****er ****er.

ninthdoc
June 23rd, 2006, 12:39 PM
one could almost say "I went ninthdoc on a case of beer". It doesn't happen often, but you caught me.

Hey! One more comment like that and you'll get me fired. ROFLMAO!

Yeah, 5 AM. That's a good idea. Because most gamers love to get up early, go for an early morning run, have a cup of coffee and watch the dawn.

Or maybe that's a totally bizarre and insane idea, and you would be the only one at this gathering.

Well, at least he could play with himself.

BTW, if you want to see cranky, have an HS event first thing in the morning. If I come, you'll walk away w/a whole new understanding of cranky. I could get 10 hours of sleep and if I don't get to wake up on my own, I'm the biggest a-hole you could ever want to meet. I am not a morning person, I absolutley hate mornings. I've been thinking of getting a petition together to get signatures in favor of abandonning the whole "morning concept" to go straight into afternoons.

Any takers?

InfinityMax

I'll sign that petition, Doc. Mornings are worthless. The only good thing about mornings are doughnut places are still open.

Velenne, it looks like we may be at the Grayhound Station playing with UD at least until lunchtime.

I used to hate the mornings too, but once I got a real job (my first out of college started at 7AM and I almost lost the job because of it) and my wife and I had kids I gradually came to discover a different world out there in the AM hours. Obviously ninthdoc and IM missed the memo (I think my wife did too). 8)

Now I actually like getting to bed by 10PM getting a solid eight hours of sleep and then feel absolutely ready to tackle the day at 6AM. (And yes I know that the last statement only made you hate mornings more.)

We gamed and drank copious amounts of brews like Hobgoblin Ale, and Dogfishhead, and Guiness, and Shiner.

We played the heck out of some customs including the Argonauts and LLandril. I kicked DMG's butt at D&D minis and we both got obliterated by ninthdoc at DOOM.

It was a small turnout, as it seems a lot of guys bailed on this event and there were some that just didn't show up. Consequently I purchased too much beer and supplies.

Thanks to all of you who came out for this!! We had a great time learning the nuances of some of those customs.

Rÿchean
July 2nd, 2006, 02:01 PM
GB, I wanted to be there in the worst way....

I guess I qualify as someone that bailed on you....

but it wasn’t by choice....I just couldn’t work out any arrangements by where I could show up...

And if you need some help with that beer…I can drop by this evening ;-)

Grungebob
July 2nd, 2006, 02:09 PM

markwars
July 2nd, 2006, 02:16 PM
Well I didn't bail on you, but I definitely wished I could have been there. I wouldn't have been much help with the beer (I won't take even one drink if I have to drive), but I sure would have loved to play those custom units. Perhaps if you make it to UPC's I can give them a go.

Thanks for hosting another DFW even though. You're one of the reasons our area is the bee's knees and even the Caliscapers wished they lived here. 8)

GB, that was a really fun time. I really wanted to stick around and play Doom, but when I was sitting there waiting for your and DMG to finish your HS game, I was falling asleep on your couch. I knew I had to drive an hour, so I figured I better go while I could still prop up my eyelids.

Thanks for hosting. I had a seriously awesome time. It was great to hang with you all guys again, and great to actually get to play with Velenne. Just a few more weeks, and we'll do it at UPC's place.

Great time. I got stomped at 2 games of Heroscape and won 1. I was thankful to get to play Doom again. Guys, if you'll still play just one more time, I promise to have the kinks worked out. I'm going to work on a cheat sheet for players. I would have been more prepared, but I was expecting Aahz to be there and he knows the rules inside and out. I promise to be more prepared next time, if you'll give it another shot. Doom is one of my favorite games currently, second only to Heroscape.

I'm really sorry I didn't get to make it out, guys.

My car decided Wednesday that it was going to start trying to overheat every time I slowed down below 10 mph.

So I took it in to get it fixed Saturday morning, still expecting to make it out in the afternoon.

I was also getting mightily depressed, 'cause I was *certain* it was a cooling system issue, and I had read the day before that GM's typical response to this on my vehicle chassis was an $800 replacement of said system.

I get a call around 2:00 telling me that the only problem is that the radiator fan motor's shot (which explains why everything works fine while the car's moving - air's flowing over the radiator, but the fan isn't kicking in when I stop), and it's only going to cost me $250 to fix it.

So I tell them to fix it...and I don't hear back from them until 6:30, when they tell me that they can't get the part until Sunday.

Which killed my chance of making it out to GBs. Sorry. :(

Upside to the story: They got the wrong part on Sunday, and couldn't get the correct part until Monday, but recommended that I call the O'Reilly next door and see if *they* have the part, 'cause they're not allowed to call them. O'Reilly had the part, in stock, for $50, which dropped my repair bill from Pep Boys from $250 to $120.

Oh, well...next time.
