Here is my first homemade card - conversion from Confrontation. Love the models but not too fond of the rules, much prefer the fast simple HS rules.

(edit: updated)

I plan on doing up these for all the Confrontation figs I currently have - its as fun making these cards as playing the game =)

In the long run I may make custom card layouts as I am not too fond of the oddball sized/shaped HS cards - maybe something more playing card like/sized.

Great to see a new face making customs.

Also great effort for your first card, which looks very clean.

Several things about this inventive custom:

First, knitpicking ^^ you left off dice and spaces on all but 1 of the stat blocks.

As far as the card's stats and abilties, I think they are a shade over-costed at the moment. With only 4 movement, they are very slow. 2 attack and 2 defense are a very stable frame for 3 units at 60 points to be built on. Mayhap upping the attack/defense to 3, and movement to 5.

here's a touch of advice, when you make a custom, and you are pricing it. Think of all of the other things you could draft for the same ammount of points. Then consider if you would be willing to give up those things to draft the custom your working on.

Looking forward to seeing some more of your work!

Thanks!

Oh good eye on the dice text missing - woops!

Also good advice for comparitive pricing - I just used a forumla I found on the web but "after adjustments" are obviously needed =)

Quick question - how well recieved are custom card layouts? Seems like everyone uses the hex style that comes with the game - which I am not too fond of - I would rather use a smaller more traditional card shape.

Custom card layouts are usually fairly well received. Many people prefer highly stylized hex cards.

Traditional rectangular cards are less common but if its your custom you can do what you want with it.

Also if you want to make your cards available to the most people you could just make a regular hex card in addition to any rectangular card.

There are a few guys here who like everything to look as official as possible. It is an irrational obsession with them, but it seems to prevail here. I have been known to switch my units to rectangle trading card versions when attending a tournament where space is limited. I say go for it. Good work.

Thanks for the encouraging words!

Here is my first go at a custom card style, 2 sided with ability descriptions on the back. It's quite small, playing card size, but I did them at 200 pix/inch so they are quite crisp when printed out (I use 110lbs cardstock - same as buisness cards).

Not 100% sure on the text font yet.

Not sure about the points yet (comments?) and wish I had a clearer pic of the figure =(

Is it a common hero or does it have 6 life?

Common heroes can only have 1 life. If 6 life, then it has to be unique.

Er yah that should say unique.

Although I don't recall any rules in the book saying that a common hero can't have more than 1 life - just no official ones currently do.

Yes but then you can have 2 common heros, one taking all the damage and you can place the other one off the map.

For balanceing issues, common heros can only have one life.

From discusion on this thread here (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=34) I finnished up a custom card style for Warhammer 40K army card conversion.

My first offering is a 3 man Tactical Squad - I have decided to keep it mostly simple and abstract - not going to worry about being exactly like GWs 40K - more in the spirit of HC.

Where is the sergant? Looks nice, I like the way you painted this set of Marines.

Your cards are awesome, are they something I could do with the card catolog or some other free program.

Thanks for the compliment - the cards are just some photoshopping for various source material related to the games they are converts from.

I didn't paint these marines - they are straight from the GW webpage - just edited a bit.

Oh and here is the sergeant - he's not too special - wanted to make him one of those cheep common heroes.

Wanted to make a "Veteran Assault Sergeant" ability for them but not sure about going over 3 special abilities.

Scout Squad

Posted as links to the gallery so I didn't fill up the whole page.

Anyone know if there is a way to post links to the gallery images as thumbnails in a forum post they way images on ImageShack do?

Well I've done about 18 cards for the Space Marines now...some complete most still WIP as far as their abilities go, but got distracted by my Warmachine models so made another custom card.

Not decided yet - its fairly fast to whip up some stats and abilities but figuring out what that should cost is gonna take a some time. If anyone has points cost suggestions go right ahead as post em.

I can play test these, but they I am my only opponent, so my findings will only bo so subjective.

My blond moments are becoming more common, is the name Sergeant a doctor or a military rank achieved by enlisted men. Either way it works, but I can not for the life of me remember how the two are spelled  .

Regardless of his name, the hero needs more life, at 1 I can not take him seriously as a hero. I would say 3 or 4 life, and then I would put him at 110, this may be wrong. I would say the Squad is about 90, this may also be wrong. That would make for two of each in a 400 point game.

I also can not find their size race class any of that on their cards, I understand that some groups omit useless stuff, like I need to be told Thorgrim is Human.
