Dear members,

I am a huge comic book reader and after buying a marvel role playing game last year for xmas which i loved i am thinking about buying the marvel heroscape which i might add came across by chance on google.
I have never really played a lot of table top role playing games i think this is due to not being able to find a niche that interests me but marvel does to the max.
I have only seen the master set on erbay for about 25 pounds and the set to me looks fantastic,is it an easy game to learn to a total novice.
Also have i left it to late to start to learn at 30 and too late to start collecting the marvel version and also are there more sets due out for release as i have seen ebayers selling extra figures for this set?
Would heroclix be easier to master first as i really do prefer this do to the board layout feels to me more like an experience rather than just cards, points and the imagination.
Please help with some inpartial realistic advise would so appreciate this as i am disabled due to an assault in 2003 this kind of new hobby would really help pass the time and hopefully might be able to find a gaming club on this version where i live in surrey uk fingers crossed someone will help me out here.

Cheers

Welcome to the boards, ironman 77! To answer your questions:

1) It's as easy a game to learn as Heroclix, so no worries there.
2) It's not too late to start collecting it; it just came out a couple of months ago.
3) The first expansion set should be out by year's end or early 2008.

Hope that helps!

Hi,

Many thanks for a speedy responce,it sounds really cool and have already put this on my xmas list.
Is Ebay the best place to be looking for the expansion sets etc for this as im new to all this and might you know of many people who have and played this?
Would be awesome to find a gaming group in my area where could playthe game with other marvel scapers!!!.

Will this be as big as the orginal version shame its not advertised much in the uk as there are just as many marvel fans here than anywhere else.

Cheers

I don't know if ebay is the cheapest place for UK players to buy from. Try contacting the UK members of these boards; they'll probably point you in the right direction.

Welcome to the boards. I would recommend going with Marvel Heroscape over Clix. Clix figures are randomly packaged, so with Heroscape you always know what you're getting. Heroscape is very easy to learn. The mechanics are simple but there's a lot of room for strategy. As mentioned above, there is only the one set right now, but we know at least one expansion is on its way. 25 pounds may be a bit steep (assuming UK currency is still about 2.5 more than the dollar), but if you were to order it from the States the shipping (and taxes and customs charges) might end up running the same. Click on the link for House Mouse games at the top of your screen. They ship internationally and would probably give you a good idea on what it would cost you.

Go to Housemousegames.com, or Amazon.com, or another online retailer. They are likely your best places to look for getting this to the UK as cheap as possible.

No expansions have come out for Marvel yet. One is due later this year or early next.

£39.99 is pretty harsh (and more expensive than RotV which is also available there for £20.51 - £27.70, but it is available there...

Well.... If you like Marvel and play Heroscape, you should really get it. It is a fun short game to play. My first heroscape set was a marvel master set. I think you should buy it.
