Hello,

I looked through the FAQ page here at Hasbro's site, but didn't find an answer to my question.

Assume opponent has multiples of the same common squad in play, and at least one of the figures among that group has been killed off. If Mind Shackle succeeds against one of the figures in that group, who decides how many figures associated with the card are alive or dead?

Like if, two squads of the Mass. Line are fielded by an opponent, one of those figures are dead, and my Mind Shackle succeeds against another of those figures, do I get choose the card with four live figures or do I get the card with only three live and one dead?

Welcome to the site Gryphon_Gold!

The answer? Ne-Gok-Sa can't mindshackle the 4th Mass, he can only mindshackle Unique heroes and unique squads. So, Ne-Gok-Sa could Mindshackle the Krav Maga Agents (unique squad), but he could never mindshackle the Roman Legionairres (common squad).

Ignoring the word 'unique' is about the #1 rules mistake that most people make. I've been playing HS since it came out, and I still learn new little things about the rules all the time.

When Ne-Gok-Sa came into existence, he was allowed to inerit the Mind shackle ability from his elders on one condition: The power would not be used on the masses of commonality. The Shakle was to be a unique power affecting only those figures with a unique identiy. Begrudgingly, the Marro warlord agreed - he could still make life hell for his rival, M-B-S.
Mind Shackle 20
After moving and before attacking, you may choose any unique figure adjacent to Ne-gok-sa. Roll the 20-sided die. If you roll a 20, take control of the chosen figure and that figure's Army Card. You now control that Army Card and all figures on it. Remove any Order Markers on this card. If Ne-Gok-Sa is destroyed, you retain control of any previously Mind Shackled Army Cards.

Thank you. That clears things up.

amazing what you can learn... Just like Cornpuff said, I've not noticed the ruling about Ne Gok Sa only mind shackling uniques. Quite a big mistake on my behalf, although not as big as the one I made about Grimnak... Played several games with Grimnak being able to chomp any size figure before realising that he shouldnt really legally be able to get his teeth around the likes of DW9000 or Mimring... Doh...

As a house rule, if only one common squad is taken (such as one Microcorp Agents), then Ne-Gok-Sa can Mindshackle. This ability works best if you also allow that same unit to be given the Disciplined Army enhancement by Parmenio, or the Attack and Defense Spirit powers of Finn and Thorgrim.

Interesting! Worth trying.

I've played with that rule before. We so rarely play with just one squad of commons that it hardly ever comes up in our games.

I DID IT! I DID IT!
I know it may sound strange but after over two years of HeroScaping, yesterday, for the first time, I succesfully mindshackled an opponent figure! :excited:
So cool it happened! And I won the game because of that. I stole Allastair McSkirt (as I call him) with only two wounds and did marvelous things using it the following round! Cool. (beside, it is the only place I can rejoice about it and be understood)

you're all talking about this thing called MindShackle like it actually exists.

I'm sure you all believe in aliens, too, right?
The Loch Ness Monster, too.

Don't blame Reaper. He's just saying that because I mindshackled him and told him to.

I've mind-shackled. It's a rare and lovely thing, but it happens. If you've got Su-bak-na and/or a glyph around your odds improve dramatically.

Of course, Ne-gok-sa's no slouch in combat either.

So let me get this straight. If you successfully mindshackle one of the Krav Maga agents, you then inherit and control all of them? After all, the rule states any unique "figure". Does this mean a single figure as in a unique hero, or does it mean only one figure of a unique squad?

it is on the card....if it meant hero only it would say unique hero instead of unique figure

So, is the phrase "You now control that army card and all figures on it" referring to the pictures on the card (other figures of that squad) or, say, Finn and Thorgrimm (if they happen to be on the card)?

Or both?

Right, if you mind shackle Charos who has a thorogrim and a finn on him, you keep those enhancements with your new card!

This is such a common mistake. No one seems to see the word "unique"

I've gotten 3 mindshackles in a game once(with the help of Su-Bak-Na).
I took 2 Izumi Samurai, full squad of Krav Maga Agents, and Alistair.
My opponent conceded right after I mind-shackled Alistair.

My only multi-mind shackle was with useless heroes like Parmenio (to the marro) but Kelda was definately more useful when I could use her to heal negoksa. But I didnt actually take any strategic offensive pieces that game.

A lucky mindshackle can easily turn around a game. Kinda like when I got my tor-kul-na taken from me. The worst part is I wasted points on 3 squads of nagrubs to support him:cry:
