Most of that is what was shown at Comic-con, but it's been shined up a touch I think....I like it.

I realize this section is titled "Marvel news" but it's really "Marvel Heroscape news" so this is better off in other media (where I'm moving it).

Anyone who said Robert Downey Jr. wouldn't make a good Tony Stark just got their proof.
Man... this is at the top of my list. The story is updated a bit (it was originally a Chinese prison), and I'm good with that. The armor looks good, the effects look good, and that flying scene will look too cool on the big screen.
I can't wait until May!

I didn't think that he was going to be any good. I just alway picture him paired with Molly Ringwald. Not manly enough.
But, man, I stand corrected. He's great and I can't wait to see it.

No, I also thought he'd be good. He's got the look and can pull off the cocky attitude that Stark has, plus he can act. Also, he can relate to the subtance abuse issue.

Exactly. I think Downey's been practicing for this part for years. :-P

I hate his first armor too, but I guess they had to throw that in there for the die-hard comic purists. I still ove the Ulitmates version of the armor, where he looks like he's wearing a fighter jet and he requires a whole crew to dress and launch. That's awesome. But the movie still looks hot.

I can't believe all the people on IMDB bashing the trailer. Saying things like "that was stupid to include the Black Sabbath song" and "that was b-movie cheese." Well I've got news, people: the was the ****ing point! And why wouldn't you include a song called Iron Man?! ****ing n00bs.

Wow Downey Jr is doing a good job! Next stop: kill all unregistered superheros!
Wow, another movie with Filter's Nice Shot song. Is that cool? It's very cool.
Iron Man of Black Sabbath was written long time ago for this movie!
I like the concept of making the prototype suit/armor during his captivity. Awsome!
For a moment in the clip Downey looked like Al Pachino.

Variety reported that Iron Man wouldn't fly in the movie. Favreau has contradicted Variety's report. A grounded Iron Man would really suck.

Wow. That trailer has better action, better music, and made me laugh more than some whole movies. I don't care what we learn about this show between now and opening night; my mind can't get any more made up to see it than it is right now.

Yeah, I just saw this yesterday at 10:00 pm and thought if there was an Iron Man thread. It looks awesome!
They've been making kiddie' stuff into PG 13! Like Transformers, it was intense and a kid could not see that.

One thing I noticed was there were at least 3 different versions of the suit viewable in the trailer. The Cave, The Prototype, and The Final.

General Ross, played by the same actor who will play the character in the upcoming Hulk movie, will be in Iron Man. Along with the Sam Jackson Nick Fury cameo they are really setting up a universe here.

Yeah I know. Perhaps Ninthdoc can take comfort by looking at it like this....there are few, if any, white men alive today who are bad-azz enough to portray Nick Fury's awesomeness, so they had to cast Sam Jackson.

Anyone see the Super Bowl trailer? It's up at IGN.com if you missed it. Pretty sweet....I am definately going to catch this one.
I count at least four versions of the armor now...the one he makes in the cave, the red and gold one, a silver one, and a clunkier looking one that looks like an in-betweener of the cave and the final product.

Yeah, I saw it. I mentioned it in the Superbowl thread.
It looks awesome and I'm pretty excited about seeing it. My little girls have been really into the super hero movies, so they will want to see this one. I recently bought a multi-tap for the PS2 ( I know, it's an antique) so that my girls and I can play Marvel Alliance together. It's a blast.

Me too. I'm pretty clueless about most comic book heroes. Until Marvelscape I had always thought Iron Man was a villian.
But this looks like a good action film. It appeals to me more than any previously made comic book film, except for the various Batman movies.
Edit: I forgot that 300 was a comic book movie. I guess I should specify 'superhero comics'

If anyone wants some decent looks at the armor, IGN's toy fair gallery pages have some, under the Hasbro section. Who knows how many of those figures are made up for the toy line, but there are some cool looks nonetheless.

That's a link to the best trailer I've seen yet. It is an extended version of one that played during Lost a couple weeks ago. In the trailer you can clearly see at least three versions of Tony's suit (red/yellow, silver, and the big clunky cave version) plus the villain's suit (which is clearly of Stark design). Some great lines in there too....looks like this will be a funny movie in addition to all the action.
I hope they get into Stark's drinking problems....I always liked the three-martini-and-then-go-fight-attitude of Iron Man. In "The Ulitmates" he says something about needing a few drinks to even be able to get into the dangerous suit.

That actor is in the trailer I think, or at least he's been in one of the trailers. He's the black guy. The only black guy.

So what's the deal? No raving reviews from anyone yet?
I hope to see this soon, although I'll be taking the family to see Prince Caspian next weekend. But I've don't think I've ever had a higher expectation for any other super-hero movie.
Edit: Never mind, I just found the other Iron Man thread.
