Just wondering which type of die you prefer and use.

I like the red/blue dice because the white ones are a little confusing.

When the new dice came out I refused to use them...until I was forced to by my six year-old son. Ever since that day I've never used the old red and blue ones again. It's so much less clutter and it's really not that hard to wrap your brain around having both symbols on the dice.

I prefer to use the old one. This way, a blank IS a blank.

Red/Blue dice since I have a lot of them. I only have two sets of the new white dice. Don't really have any personal preference.

I'm all for the new dice. I got my custom set a while ago (awaiting the castle to issue so I can pay them off). I love not having to search the board over for the right dice, especially on the giant maps.

Each is functional, but I'm more of an old school dice guy. Probably because I'm more of a visual person, and I like the clash of the blue and red dice going up against each other as combatants roll to see the outcome of the fray!

I prefer having a large amount of dice in front of me begging to be rolled. It is nice (well, not really) to see actual blanks rather than the opposite symbol. I have never used my new dice and probably never will.

r/b. makes for easier IDentification, and better to use in a dice tower.

I'm elderly school, so I prefer the old dice. I don't have any of the new dice, but my opponents and I tend to throw the dice in the same general area...doesn't that get confusing when all the dice are rolled and they're all the same? I guess you roll them in separate places.

Old school all the way, for several reasons...

I have about 10 sets of the b/r dice, and only 2 of the white.
As the older ones get scuffed, and the symbols become faint, I can easily switch them out.
We all roll all of our dice in the same box. It's easier to distinguish which dice are the attackers, and which are the defenders.
It brings back fond memories of playing Battle Masters. :)
I am resistant to change.

Now here's a question...

How many have both the red and black D20?
Almost all of mine are black, but only one is red.

r/b all the way. I also have a hard(er) time distinguishing symbols on the white dice. And stylistically I think the colored dice with white symbols look nicer.

There aren't many of us new dice users I guess.

I'm sure the numbers on the newer dice will increase as the rarity of the old red/blue dice increases.

At the DFW gatherings (now that I think about it) most of the folks use the older dice. I think that I got used to the white dice because I play so often with my son. Having both symbols on the die makes it very simple for my son and it speeds up our games considerably. Often when I play someone other than my son, I offer to let them share my dice and tower with me for the match. It prevents any slip ups...and if you think they don't happen think again. I recall having Grungebob himself repeatedly roll attack dice on defense rolls by mistake (in his defense he had had a few beers). :P

R/B here. I have two opened sets, and 3 unopened sets. My son has one set. No white dice in the house; unless you want to count the ones with black dots. If I had a set of white, I'd use them from time to time, but I kind of like taking all attack and defense dice that are going to be rolled and dropping them all into the dice tower at the same time.

I prefer the new white dice. It takes less space and prevents grabbing the wrong dice. I am more than able to tell skulls from shields from blanks. :D

We use the new dice. I agree that the old dice look better, but for actually playing, the new dice take up less space and are easier to use (in that you don't have to constantly switch between attack and defence dice).

I'm a new dice guy. They are the dice I first played with and I would probably use them even if I started with the red and blues.

I've said it before I don't like the white combo dice. When I'm on Defense I want to see shields and then blanks, but it irriatates to see skulls come up ( seams like a waste ). I could have used them last turn. It seam like if I need Skulls I get shields and if I need Shields I get Skulls, I would feel less bad if just blanks would come up.

The poll is very lop-sided, I remember on HQ the same poll and it was almost 50-50 and I think the new dice had the edge.

Yeah it's pretty lopsided. So who wants to trade me some of their unwanted white dice for some of my unwanted R/B dice?

I could always use spare dice ( in the fears I'll wear the marks off my Red & Blue ). I didn't check to see if you are going to Gen-Con but if you are we could trade there.

i use the R&B dice as well, i just like the quick glance obvious blank or no blank :)

i do hear some concern with dice symbols wearing off.....primary causes of that would be holding the dice when not useing them, dumping liquids on them or dropping them into liquids...generally speaking if you leave them on the table except when actully rolling and keep them dry, they should last ya years and years, and if they fade off in 10 years, bust out another set you had in a bag somewhere *grins*.....been playing dice games for 16 years or so...and in some cases still useing the original dice :)

The obvious issue with the HS dice is that the image is not inset, but flush. The design is painted on the surface. I also believe ( this is only my speculation ) that maybe a run / batch of dice were not prepped correctly or something was wrong with the paint or curing process as we have a few die that the paint is wearing different than others. Based of other complaints I’ve read time to time I think other people are seeing the same thing.

if your symbols haven't worn off yet morgonis it's because you don't play enough HS! mine began wearing off long ago ;).
the primary reason is that HAS was too cheap to engrave the symbols. just doing their best to keep the price down.
