I was thinking about it and sometimes when you make custom army cards is you realize that you do not have a figure that you can easily customize or maybee you are not all that good a painting. Now I am pretty good at painting but sometimes I don't have a figure that matches up. So recently I printed up some basic cardstock figures. That are just two dimensional. I will include and example. I have also filed all the details off a figure and I am gluing picture on to the figure. Still working on that. I know it sounds cheesey, but it may work.
Here is sindel:

Back on HSHQ it was ArchonShiva, I think, who did Street Fighter figures under the same principle. Even had some nice pics of 'em in action, unless I'm hallucinating memories again.

That doesn't happen to be a sweet pic of Sindel, from MK III, is it? :)
Ya, I guess since you mentioned it was Sindel, I guess it is.
Nice pic - I thought she had longer hair?
You could probably get some real sweet shots of some Killer Instinct people - Spinal would be interesting in HS, and of course Sabrewulf and Riptor.

I was looking for paper minis for my little dungeon game I'm making, and ran across these guys:
http://www.arion-games.com/
They render their characters in 3D so you can get front and back shots, and they have huge libraries of figures. If you want to make fantasy minis, there is very likely to be something here. And the neat part is, they're cheaper than used dirt.

Imax, that is a nice find. Everyone complaining about the lack of dwarves can get some for $3. The free sample stuff has a pretty good variety, and it's cheap as free!
Reaper, is her hair supposed to be long enough to, say, block access to a glyph a la chompy's tail?

Jsu a few additional sources for the newcomer to paper minis:
The gold medal standard for free paper minis has always been patrick crusiau's tempest fugit sets. Below is a link. It's in French, but just click on the pictorial icons and you'll be given a print out page of figures for each "set".

And here are some homage pages (click the links):

http://home.earthlink.net/~rpggate/arkcaver.htm
There's alson One-Monk miniatures that has free trial pages of both large and small figures:

Though not 3D, I've found that these figures can integrated into the game with ease.

wbdhoc, check out the site rules thread before you go and revive a thread from 2 years ago. ;)

I for one will say that I think this is a valid way to bring back an old thread. Bring it back with a relevant post and a new link to what was being discussed. I haven't seen this thread since I posted in it 2 years ago, but I kind of want to print up some paper minis and do some cheap and easy custom units. On top of that he searched for a thread before just posting it.

Agreed. This is a much better idea than making a new thread with the same subject.

God bless us everyone!
One more I have in a favorites folder that may prove of some use, especially for those that don't "double dip" into heroclix minis is seven wonders:
http://www.seven-wonders.co.uk/paperfriends.html
Even if you do own lots of clicks I find it's hard to grab enough generics for squads so some of these standees come in handy.
Finally (edit) there are a few options for mounting. The cheapest is to print the appropriate base from One Monk:
http://onemonk.com/Bases.html
However, I tend to think that, given the purpose of paper minis is getting more minis for smaller storage, you may want to pursue plastic bases. Now, generally the disposable heroes bases are the easiest to locate, but they also require a 100 base buy in and cost $25. Alternative? two sites I've found:
http://www.gameparts.net/card-stands.htm
This site works best with a buddy buy in; everybody chips in $20 for 200 bases and everybody goes home happy. But for smaller purchases:
http://www.greathallgames.com/aacc/atokbags/aOtherParts.htm
This site offers stands for 0.25 per unit, same price as disposable heroes but you get to set the number ala carte.
