With the heroscape master set is there a way you can tell whether or not it has the sparkly transluscent water for sure? Also im newer to the game itself (just got it at the beginning of this summer) and was wondering if there are any other kinds of water besides the sparkly translucent and solid blue, and if any other set have been changed as far as color or translucenticity(...).

no, there is no way in telling if it has it or not unless you open it. I think when it first came out it came with sparkly water but i dont think they are making anymore, and the only water there is the sparkly water and solid blue water.

i think the way to tell is if you lift up that front on the box and if there the platic window with thorgrim in it than that is the set with the sparkly tiles, if you lift up the front and it just shows a picture of him it has the solid tiles, i think, im not compleatly sure

You can order 1st edition sets from House Mouse games for around $37. You can also just buy sparkly water from them.

If it is first edition the numbers in the bottom left corner tell you. Low 43000's and below= sparkley water. High 43000's and higher= solid water.
Gambit that is the way you dicide if it is 1st edition or 2nd. If it has a plastic window 1st edition if it is only a picture of Thorgrim it is 2nd edition.

If I am not mistaken, the first edition also differs from the second in the dice. If the back of the box lists 10 blue and 10 red dice, that should be indication.

Yes, but there are first edition sets that have solid water....hence the problem. The nubmerts are a rough indicator, as su-bak-na posted. If you get a low-numbered first edition set you should be alright.

I thought when they went to the cost cutting water the dice were part of it.

Yes most likely that is the reason... but both changes did not happen at the same time. First was the water and then the dice.
