I went on Generals Of Valhalla and noticed another scaper in Alameda. Also have converted my bro and good friend AJ to the game although I doubt you'll ever see either of them lurking in here. I saw the pics and stats they posted of the SOCAL tourney. Looked like hella-fun, we need to do some of that up here. It'd be fun to do a tourney where you could not draft the same unit twice. Instead of one army fits all like the Con tourneys you'd have to show your agility playing with all sorts of troops. They switched up their armies alot in the SOCAL tourney, but I think it was only because the maps changed and they were adapting, not because they had to.

I'll be in downtown San Francisco all next week for the JavaOne conference....

Can any of you recommend a good gaming store to visit while I am in town?

Thanks!

The lowdown on my "local" gaming stores:

Dr. Comic & Mr. Game - 4014 Piedmont Ave, Oakland. Comics, collectibles, DVDs, board games, some rpg … Dr. comic has definitely taken over most of the store. They have an upstairs table but, it gets pretty heavy use and needs to be scheduled.

Endgame - 921 Washington St, Oakland (corner of 10th and Washington). They have been our gracious hosts for some of the NorGal Gamedays. They have an open mezzanine with a bunch of tables … generally first come first sever for small groups. They sell Heroscape, board games, miniatures, CCGs, and RPGs.

Games of Berkeley - 2151 Shattuck Ave, Berkeley (across the street from the down town Berkeley BART station). Great rpg section, carries HS, minis (definitely WH focused), gaming tables downstairs, loads of great stuff. It’s my store of choice, but then again I’m on the same side of the bay. Open tables for small groups until 9pm.

Games Workshop - 101 Fourth St, San Francisco (in the Metreon).

Gamescape - 333 Divisadero St, San Francisco (at Oak street). I haven’t been there in a few years, but they used to have a pretty good used rpg section … minis, rpgs, darts, board games, good stuff! They have four tables for in shop play till 7pm (MTG on tues).

It's your move - 4920 Telegraph Ave, Oakland. A small game store with minis and expensive HS boosters (last I checked). Gaming tables for up to 30 and will stay open after hours for a nominal fee.

Get the sense I could easily be convince to haul a few master sets out to throw down a few rounds.

Satyr...thanks for the info.

I will probably only get to make it to the GW store in Meteron as I will be without a car and too busy at the conference to figure out the buses/BART.

Thanks again.

Satuirday is a casual HS day - just demos for new players interested in learning, and Sunday is the Tournament. So prolly Sun would be better for you, Mal.

Why did it have to be this weekend!!! Saturday I am going to the Giants game. It would have been no big deal as everyone's pretty much aware how much I like sports, it is just the seats - they're in the Owner's Box! Sunday is out also. I just realized that this morning while doing yardwork. This Sunday is the local annual parade - Why is this a big deal you ask ... It is not, except I live at the end of Main Street with a 200 yard long driveway. The parade uses my driveway every year to set up the parade I will not be able to leave until 1:00 in the afternoon! And, that is without shoveling the horse biscuits off the driveway!

From my trips back and forth Hwy 20, that's probably 3 to 3 1/2 hours away.

Is there anyone here in Rio Linda?

I found this while trying to pin point where Rio Linda is exactly ...

The town is a target of a meme occasionally heard on The Rush Limbaugh Show. The joke stereotypes the city's residents as unintelligent and simplistic. Specifically, sometimes when using a relatively complicated word or phrase, Limbaugh will follow it with "for those of you in Rio Linda…" followed by a rudimentary synonym for, or simplistic explanation of, the original word or phrase. Limbaugh hosted a radio talk show at KFBK in nearby Sacramento from 1984 to 1988. This practice began after Rush once drove down Rio Linda Boulevard (which courses through Del Paso Heights, a very depressed area of Sacramento) and noticed things that would normally be seen as indicators of absence of sophistication.

Welcome JonnyPac! This is great to know: My family go up to the cabin in Pollock Pines about 5-6 times a year. This January, we're planning to head up with another fellow 'Scaper - Guerillanator - and his family. G-nator and I were thinking of doing some 'scaping on small boards. I'll see if we can coordinate something?

Cool. If Guerillanator and I do manage to get this going with you - do you have another player to make a 2 on 2 game? And could we play at your location? Our cabin is too small for a game of Heroscape while two wives and 5 children are there.

Actually, I'm a Gallery Director or a modern art gallery right in the middle of downtown Placerville, so I've got plenty of room and nice overhead lighting too. We can setup afterhours, and play all evening. I'm sure I can drag a local or two into a game to fill out some good teams.

Actually, I'm a Gallery Director or a modern art gallery right in the middle of downtown Placerville, so I've got plenty of room and nice overhead lighting too. We can setup afterhours, and play all evening. I'm sure I can drag a local or two into a game to fill out some good teams.

Thanks for the kind welcomes! I'm glad to know there are so many nice scapers out there.

Jonny! My family and I are heading up to the cabin on December 21. Have you got any plans? It would just be me playing with you. How much do you have in your collection?
Flagbearers?
Commons?

What's the name of the gallery? We've visited many of the bookstores in town, but I'm sure we've walked passed your place.

I should be around unless I head out to NV to visit family. The gallery is called Trilogy, but I'm taking over all the way and renaming it in jan of 07. It's the upstairs art gallery...

I've got one of everything except the promo chase figs. I've got a set of wave 6 pre-ordered too. :)

I've got a killer three player setup that I just designed. We'll just have to rope one more player in to rock it. yuk yuk...

Scapin' after hours in an art gallery sounds very cool, Jonny! Let's confirm things as the date draws closer.
Do you have Sir Hawthorne, EOVs, Nerak? I can bring them if not.

Btw, here is Traveling Drake (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=218&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=traveling+drake&start=0) at the cabin earlier this year:

I had a great time last week too. I'm even more inspired to play. Please let me know when there is a game worth driving to the city for. I've got a place to stay in Berkely. My older brother who lives there is a very good gamer too. We played several games of HS last night, we came up with some very fresh setups and whatnot.

Once again, I'm glad you made it out here. It was fun meeting you. Thanks!

We haven't had a NorCal event in a while ... I think the ball got placed in my court after the last tournament and I've been slammed with RL stuff for a while. Looks like later summer early fall is the most likely for me setting something up.

Alastair, Heretic, and I however have been gamming pretty regularly after work ... not much HS, but that may change with Wave 7. Drop me a PM if your lookin to game. I work in SF so I could probably swing something in "The City".

I was away for the last two weeks enjoying the mountains.
I had no Heroscape goodiness - after loading up the trailer and van with furniture for our cabin, I was out of room for anything 'scape
That is, until Guerillinator showed up with my Housemouse order of Wave 7 and Marvel master set!
Three cheers for Guerillinator!
I got in several great games with G-nator, but no pictures.

The last night of my stay, I went down to Placerville to hook up with JonnyPac (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=1863) and a few of his friends.
They re-introduced me to In & Out Burger (yum!) and we got down to playing 'Scape in a room of his Upstairs art gallery.

It was a three-way battle and Jonny wanted general-specific armies of 500 points. I took Utgar and everything that could fly except for Isamu and DW7K.
I don't know the outcome of the battle - I was the first person out and left before everyting finished.
Here's hoping Jonny will visit the site and let me know who was victor - his Einar crew holding the top of the castle, or Buddy's advancing Vydar forces.
Thanks again for the invite and great night of 'Scapin', Jonny.

Sucked that no one could show.
My family and I had just got back in town on the 6th, so it was a last minute thing.
Guerillinator and I got in five excellent games of 510-point armies.
But I can't say it was tournament-focused. We were just readjusting our 600 point armies for the new point allotment.

I'll let you know when the next get together will be.
Feel free to PM your Phone #, so I can reach you.

I've created thread with the results from all previous NorCal tournaments and from that data determined a seeding ranking for future tournaments.

This might be a bad thing, since I'm gonna have to deal with MacDirk :)

Hey guys, me and a friend play heroscape all the time and we were wondering if there is anyone else close by that plays the game to? My friend lives in Sacramento and I live in Elk Grove and Stockton. If there is a lot of people out here that are close by then maybe we could start up a tournament or something? Anyways, it would be great to finally meet some more people who play in California that live close by and not L.A. or something.

Due to the large number of general NorCal area threads (and with the sheer number of AdMins in the NorCal area - more than any other area in the USofA - it makes us look bad), I have combined the following threads:

• California: I'm in Placerville (Near Sacramento) Originated December 2nd, 2006 by JonnyPac
• Roseville, CA Originated September 29th, 2007 by HudsuckerGames
• Lakeport CA Anyone? Originated March 13th, 2008 by Stinkfist
• Sacramento, Elk Grove, Lodi, Stockton, or close by Originated June 2nd, 2008 by Natas
• North California Central Valley / Sacramento Area Originated June 6th, 2008 by Natas

If you happen to see more NorCal Threads (I know there are at least two more out there but for the life of me couldn't think how to search them out) list them here so we can get them all under on roof ...

So I'm wanting to throw a small Game Day party here on the Central Coast because I know that people are itching to play with the new figures. My plan is to host it here in Los Osos which I know it may be a bit of a drive for many of the So-Cal and NorCal guys but wanted to make it available to you all as well. I'm fairly open as far as dates and I'm definately open to what popular opinion is. I want to work it so as many people that want to come can do so. My guess is that the weekend of July 12th would probably be the best option for notice and to avoid the holidays. So anyone that is interested give me a shout out!

Im actually from Reno Nevada, but yes Im that addicted to 'Scape. And rather than wait the five-bizillion years it takes for a heroscaper to grow in the desert I would rather drive to Cali. But I would rather to stay under a three hour drive if at-all-possible. Sheesh! I actually moved from Massachusetts and no one plays anything there. Here, everyone is into Warhammer and Confrontaion and such. And I love hanging out over there. They even had a 8vs8 game with 15,000 pts. each. As cool as that sounds its not as cool as 1 vs 1 and 400 point heroscape. So Anyone up for a game? I have weekends available and can travel probably once a month.

So I finally made it to Cali. I'm currently living on Travis AFB, but will be moving to a permanent home in Fairfield soon. Thought I'd see if there were any 'Scapers in that area that would want to get together for some games. Maybe show me some good places to buy Heroscape stuff. I don't have my collection at the moment though. The movers have put it in storage until I move into my home. Anyway, I hope someone responds to this so I can find a few people to play the game (or any game for that matter) with.

1. GAME KASTLE has the Fortress of the Archkyrie set in stock, along with all of Wave 8, the Ticalla Jungle, Aquilla's Alliance, and many more Heroscape sets. (However, they now have one less Fortress of the Archkyrie, since one mysteriously disappeared while I was there. ;))

2. GAME KASTLE lets you pre-order WAVE 9 (:woot:), and when you pre-order it, the price gets reduced by 20%.

Okay NorCal Scapers, I got a couple orders of business.

First off, we need to get together and throw down here again, and soon. Last time was in February, and that's just too long now. I know Dnutt had something planned and for life reasons it got postponed. It happens, but the call of 'Scape persists! Additionally, there's a fair number of you on the list I don't think I've met yet. So these things we need to change. I realize that Gencon is rapidly approaching, but I also think Menchi (not on the List and the current NorCal Champ) and myself are the only ones representing NorCal in Indy this year. I don't think there's enough time to plan something for before Gencon, but perhaps the weekend before or after Labor Day there should be another Bay Area Brawl.

Secondly, it's come to my attention that NorCal has lost a fine player, as Alastair MacDirk has left the highlands for... wait. SoCal? Really, MacDirk? SoCal? Well, SoCal can have the man, he's a pain in the @ anyway. ;)

In all seriousness, I wish him luck, and hope he can pull off a new title in SoCal in the near future.

hello all, I'm a long time gamer living in SF with an 11 year old son that loves Heroscape. He's sick of playing against me, so I'd appreciate any pointers to finding younger Heroscape players in SF.
We live right by Dolores Park by way of location.

I posted some info for you in the EtS Tournament thread.

Winin (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/member.php?u=9330) (another SF player) might be up for playing tomorrow. His wife and kids are leaving town today and he was planning on doing some play-testing this weekend.

ha ha, thanks for the quick response, unfortunately, I've got my roto baseball draft tomorrow, pretty much an all day affair, but I'll try to sync up with Winin.

Hey everyone, I just saw this thread. I'm in San Francisco, I'm new to Heroscape, and I'm loving it so far. My daughter likes playing with the terrain (and it is tough enough to withstand 2 year olds walking on it, so it passes the test).

I had a friend over tonight and we got in a few quick rounds. He's up for some more, though he didn't like how much luck was a factor. I told him next time we can play more than 220 points and draft armies and throw in some glyphs and whatnot to add more strategy.

I'm up for some games. I travel a lot for work (mostly last minute) so during the week can be tough, but if I'm in town I can play. Weekends I'm usually around. I can travel outside of SF too.

I spoke with the guys at Gamescape on Divis, and they said that they don't have Heroscape events, but if there isn't anything happening on the weekends, we would be welcome to go setup and use the tables in the back.

Just to put it out there, Ronin Valentina is hosting a Draft Pool Tournament (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=30114) in July.
