View Full Version : Do Hexagons make you irrationally happy?

I've noticed lately that seeing things (cobblestones, tiles, side tables, crackers) that are hexagonal makes me very happy. Its gotten so that I probably seem kinda crazy...I get all excited when I see this otherwise normal stuff.
For example: This week we visited a family friend at her second home. It was this fancy victorian place that was all nifty and old. As we got the tour through the house and everyone marvelled at the molding and detail of various architechural touches, I got very excited by the tiny hexagonal tiles in the bathroom. The other stuff...meh, but hexes in the bathroom? Yeah!
Anyone else feel this strange effect?

it's because HS is a drug. it has a cocain-like effect on the air around it, and it increases everytime you touch it. you get excited, and expect the same reaction from ever object posessing a hexagonal shape.

I voted no but I noticed if you ever watch MLS or the World Cup, the nets' holes are hexes.

Hexagons a great for many games like Dongeon and Dragon and Star Fleet Battle.

Two flash games that I like playing every now and then are Gems and Proximity, both utilizing hexes. Both also require strategic thinking. Now if I could just figure out what this means.

I placed a request in the smiley thread for Hexagon smilies. We can start using Hexes as our rating system then instead of stars (5 out 6 hexes, etc.) Seems appropriate for a game like this.

Have you ever wanted to take hex stepping stones and build a life size board in your back yard..... (I'm not obsessed.)

I was just at a restaurant and they had hex floor tiles, should I ask where they got them (it was probably local, HokshilaTo)?

Mmm, my dream back yard. I would build.......Soulrazor Canyon! And I'd set up little ponds all around it, and paint the stones the appropriate color. Glorious.
You know, my wife is always wanting me to get more into yard design....

but seriously. how awesome woudl it be if we were somehow all able to meet in the center of the states, say, KS or something and set up a life-size game of HS. We could each draw from a hat to see who we represent, and then dress up and and and get in the guiness book of world records!
