Freaking awesome man! I'd definitely be interested in seeing more of your work so that I could use these for those special occasions when I'm battling so I don't have to use the cards all the time. Shame that you may not be able to do the hit zones however. Can you do this for Scenarios as well, or has this already been done?

What timing.
I was thinking it would be great to have such a reference system in a folder.
The bios haven't been updated in a long while and I'd actually prefer a one-unit-per-page system anyway
If these become a hot commodity other than just me using them, I will complete all available army cards currently released and then make them available in several formats.
Enjoy!
Yes, keep them coming...please!
Are you looking for other input? Can I suggest:
* Cutting back on the general-dominant colors if just to save strain on ink cartridges (I spent near $60 today replenshing my Epson's supply  )
have you seen Malechi's bios? He has a colored band/strip as a background to the unit's white-texted name to signify the unit's faction/allegiance.
I really like the general symbol on your template by the way. It would be great and visually complete just to have that rather than the larger, vertical band of color.
* A small image of the figure
* The bio from the official site (although it sounds like you're headed in that direction anyway)!
A very nice idea and endeavor!
Here's hoping we'll see more!

That's an awesome idea! If you can print them out then building an army would be that much smoother. You could use that instead of the actual card and see the synergy bonuses.

Nicely done. Not sure if I would ever use persoanlly, but still nice. I do not think I would use them as the hurt on my printer would be too much. Plus every wave some cards would have to be reprinted because of synergies.

Actually, when I went to bed last night, I was thinking of adding the hit zones, so you may get your wish. It just takes a lot of scanning on my part. :frustrated:
As for Scenarios, could you please elaborate a little more. Still new to this site, so I wasn't sure what you were getting at.
Thanks for the feedback.

Well, just keep in mind that a lot of the units have several rule clarifications, so they will end up being a front/back page, maybe even a full second page. (Haven't even got to Sgt. Drake or Master Winchel's Donuts yet.
As for the ink  I know. I wanted to create something that got the idea of the General across by doing a 2-color theme to represent him/her. I'm kind of playing around with this project as I go. The whole perfectionist thing and all. I'll play around with the color scheme a little bit more to lessen the burden of over-priced ink cartridges.
An image of the figure would be a nice touch, but it might cause a problem for the amount of room I'm dealing with.
Again a room issue, the bio would be nice. I'll have to play around with the layout a little.
Thanks for your feedback!

Going to look into the ink problem.
I understand about the new synergies from new cards. That's what makes this project worthwhile only for a few people.

I was talking about like maps and scernario builds fitting into the folder sized paper. you know, so if theres a scernario i want to use that isnt in my Master set guide (there will be since im looking to buy more land pieces) i could just find it in my folder and BAM! instant scenario.

Man, this is a big project. Kudos for taking it on!
If these are going to be on an 8.5x11 sheet, I don't see why you can't get everything on two sides, even with a maximum amount of info. Just keep messing with the layout to maximize the space. Maybe start with the figure that has the most info and then work backwords from there.

Blue Jandar symbol, red Utgar symbol, etc.?

I think Raudulfr Shieldcrusher (five posts up), may have the hit zones from his baseball card- styled HS cards.

This is a creation that was much needed. The only thing I could think of that would make it even better......a program. If someone got together with HSmaniac and laid it out in an easy access program, with drop-down style menu's,totally would download it!!! Would make it easier on him for updating, and no ink cost!! Still great work! Great idea!!

I will be scanning every hit zone that I have cards for at the moment. I am missing Sir Hawthorne, Master Win Chiu Woo and of course all of the unreleased material.
And sorry to burst the Marvelscapers' bubbles, but, until the HS project is done, there won't be any released MS cards. This doesn't mean I will never do them though...

No chance of taking the hit zones from the official site and lessening your workload?

I had tried that first, but I find that if I scan the card in, I get a clearer card and the recoloring process I do on each hit zone is easier with a higher resolution pic.

UPDATE: I finished the first batch of card pages, but I need to know the best way to upload a file (.rar) to the internet so I can get a URL address and post it in this thread.
The first batch contains all of the units from Rise of the Valkyrie, including an unreleased update to the Izumi Samurai for the synergy received from Kato Katsuro.
In addition, I will also be releasing the RotV figure hit zones complete with small and medium sized pics.

Well, I hope that the lack of responses and the increase in the number of views, means that everybody likes the Card Pages. What I would like to know is feedback on the following questions:
1: What kind of ink strain does a standard front page put on a printer?
2: Is the size of the text in the body of the card readable? Is it too small?
3: Are the hit zones on each card worthwhile? Are they too small?
4: Please give the general template of the Card Page an overall rating based on these smilies:
:x - Terrible
 - Bad
:) - Good
:D - Great
 - Outstanding
Also, as an update, I just wanted to let you all know that I am 3/4 of the way done with Malliddon's Prophecy.

I appreciate the rating Scrub. Nice to have feedback.
I designed these originally because I was going to create a MS Word document, print them off and then probably laminate them. Card stock is a good idea...

As per the front page explanation....
"...The Page graphic is meant to fit on an 8.5x11 Letter size piece of paper and can be adjusted in a program like MS Word so that it can be laminated and 3-hole punched for notebook keeping."
These are LARGE graphics. I intended them for notebook-size pages (1 per page). They are to become my "Encyclopedia of Heroscape" if you will. Sorry if you saw this as something else.

Ok, so I made a mess of things thanks to an error in the HeroScape Army Books (perhaps somebody could correct it  ).
None of the Human Champions list Synergy Receving from MacDirk Warriors' Highland Fury. Because of this I had to touch-up Finn, Sir Denrick, & Thorgrim.
After revising the cards and repacking the .rar files already uploaded to my storage site, I decided to clean up the initial post in this thread. Hopefully the files are easier to find after organizing them into categories and including revision numbers and info.

Wow, this must take an enormous amount of time and effort.

Here's some things I noticed:
:?: Is Jandar's template purposely missing a colored border?
TYPO: Second of page of Blastatrons. The header states, 'Gladiatrons'
CORRECTION NEEDED: 'Gladiatrons' should be changed to 'Blastatrons'.
TYPO: Second of page of Brunak. Header is 'Minions of Utgar'
CORRECTION NEEDED: change 'Minions of Utgar' to 'Brunak'
TYPO: Microcorp page is titled, 'Gorillinators'
CORRECTION NEEDED:Change title to 'Microcorp Agents'.
I went through and am pretty sure that was it for the top portion of each page. I'll move on down and proofread the next section as soon as I am able!
Great project so far!
EDIT: a few I caught after showing my son the spectacular pages:
TYPO: Bottom of Nakita Agents' page states, "CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGE", but there is no second page
CORRECTION NEEDED: Create second page
TYPO: Eldgrim's page states' Overextand'
CORRECTION NEEDED:Change to 'Overextend'

Well, the border for Jandar is white, but unfortunately it didn't turn out as well as I had thought. After I get back from my vacation this weekend (also in which I pick up my 2 sets of SotM from Lonewolf), I plan to do up the cards for them and then work on a prototype for Army Card Page v1.3. Here are some of the changes/adds I plan on for the new card layout:
- Addition: Aquilla cards & layouts
- Addition: 2nd edition color schemes
- Addition: Color figure snapshots
- Addition: Homeworlds
- Addition: Card set name
- Addition: Card set number
- Possible Addition: Basic game figure stats
- Possible Addition: Identifiable keywords
- Change: Jandar's 1st edition color scheme
If any of you have any other input or features you would like to see on the list above, please feel free to submit your idea.
In addition, as an information update, I plan on waiting to release the Complete Set .rar files for Exclusives until I have one of my Master Woos that are on their way to me as I speak. SotM will most likely be sometime when I get back next week. I have 3 more cards to finish up for Wave 7 and then I will post the set and the hit points.

Updated with a sample of the 2ND EDITION Promo ~ Theracus!
Please submit your feedback!
NOTE: As I stated in a previous post, I am going to complete the 1ST EDITION with the adds of Sir Hawthorne, Master Win Chiu Soo, and Swarm of the Marro. Once those ads have been made, I will be concentrating on the 2ND EDITION and will be converting all the 1STs to 2NDs. The 1ST EDITION will continue to be posted in this thread, including any card revisions that need to be made in the future, but will not be updated with any new cards after Swarm of the Marro.
Thank you for your outstanding support of this project. I will always be working to improve upon this project as much as I can, and will always consider any opinions for improvements.

These are really sweet, especially V2. Great job HSL!
What are you using to make these? Photoshop?
I've been considering a similar project myself, but I can't seem to find the time or creativity to get it done. I think your work is great and I will probably end up using it. I have one request, and it may not be reasonable. Is it possible to fit all the text(bio's, synergies, rule clarifications, etc) on just two pages, front and back? Or does the font have to go legal-ese size for that to happen. I don't know why, but for some reason extending beyond 2 pages really starts to bug me. :?
Anyway, great job again. Can't wait to see V2 complete.

PhotoShop 7.0 is the tool of choice.
As for the text issue - that's exactly what it's been even in the case of the 1st Edition. Cards like the Nakita Agents just have so much going on in the way of Rule Clarifications that it's really impossible for some cards to even be 2 pages. With 1st Edition there were the Airborne Elite, Shaolin Monks, & Nakita Agents, that had 3 pages. Hasbro went a little overboard on Wave 6's bios, plus consider that Wave 7's have never been posted, so there may be more 3-pagers.
I didn't receive much feedback on the text size from the 1st Edition, but just looking at it through the eyes of PhotoShop, it seemed like those with vision problems might have an issue with the text size. As I start to transfer all the 1st Edition information over to the new format, I will see if I can tweak the text size to maintain the 1-2 page limit. Your beloved Nakita Agents just may end up being 3 pages though, Hex. :P
I appreciate the feedback and the encouragement on this project. Once I am finished with the 2nd Edition, I will be working on a Synergy Reference chart which will use the same color photos that I'm scanning on the cards, for easy reference to those people who don't like the Army Card Pages.

Hey guys, I'm back from my anniversary vacation and I just thought I would let you know that I have plenty of stuff in the works.
I picked up my 2 sets of Swarm of the Marro and received my Master Win Chiu Woo in the mail, so I should be buttoning up the remainder of the 1st Edition Pages.

Posted the newest revision to the promo for 2nd Edition.
Fixed the following issues from v2.0:
+ Adjusted several text sizing issues
+ Relocated page number to be easier to view
+ Added a page revision number
+ Added a 2nd Edition stamp
+ Added a Synergy Quick Reference section
As you can see from this promo of Master Win Chiu Woo, some cards with large amounts of text will need several pages in order to cover it all. My goal with this revision to the text issues, was to accomodate these large blocks of text. With the fix, you shouldn't see any Army Cards with more than 2-3 pages each. I do apologize for the size and inconvenience that some cards do pose, but sizing way too small for reading is not on my list of features for these Card Pages.
Feedback is welcome and I hope to hear from everybody that has an opinion on the 2nd Edition Pages.

I've come to terms with the >2 pages thing. Therapy was $ but I can cope with it now. :P My thing was I wanted to make a book by putting these into page sleeves with only a front and back per army card. I think I'll still do that, but just hide the extra pages in between.
I really like v2.1  except for the star/asterisk with "2nd" in it and I think the v1.0 thingy should be something really tiny in one of the corners. I'm still using these whether you make any changes to that or not.
Great work! I gotta figure out how many of these I can print off at work with no one noticing.
ETA: If you were considering removing the stamp and version info, don't. I can easily go in and take that stuff out myself if I don't like it. ;-)

Just keeping everybody up to date on my whereabouts. I'm still here and plugging away at the 2nd Edition cards.
Since this will probably be the final edition (yeah right  ) for a while, I decided to fine tune some of the components of the pages.
+ Increased dpi of scanned photos and hit zones from 400 to 1200
+ Increased dpi of Aquilla symbol from 400 to 1200
+ Added a terrain enhancement icon - this shows that the figure(s) benefits from the designated type of terrain
+ Rearranged hit zones so that larger multiple images can fit in designated area
+ Revamped text blocks
- Removed 2nd Edition stamp
- Relocated revision stamp
Right now with my work and family schedule, I'm guesstimating that the target release date for the 2nd Edition will be somewhere near the end of September. Following the 2nd Edition, I have a couple more projects that I've been thinking about.
(All projects are aimed at being released in a similar format to that of the 2nd Edition Army Card Pages)
• Quick-Reference synergy guides by General
• Quick-Reference glyph guide
• Rulebooks
• Disecting all official and user-submitted battlefields and converting all into PDF-based guides, which will include detailed info and hex counts
• High-resolution scans of every army card in existence, resized to actual card size - these will be submitted as updated pics for the Unit Database & Books
If you have any suggestions for other ideas that you'd like to see made possible, please feel free to PM me or drop a reply here. Now, back to the Looney-Bin!

Posted the trial of v2.3. I added two more features not listed in the last post.
+ Revamped Synergy sections so that users could quickly identify the total Synergy according to stat enhancement. Each special powers' synergy has enhancement detailed and color-coded.
- Reduced font size of main text body in order to fit more information on a single page and reduce the number of pages taken up by each army card.
Unless any of you have issues with this revision, this will be the final revision and will be the hard template from which the 2nd Edition will be processed.
I tested out this same trial set (Master Woo) on my wife's color inkjet at work and raised the quality to the highest dpi setting. The result was quite gorgeous in my opinion. I can't wait to have mine professionally printed so I can laminate them, 3-hole punch them and have my book.

Sorry, I had a good laugh with this one. To Elf_Archer, I apologize for Goblyn's smart-alec remark, but you did leave yourself wide open.
These Army Card Pages are considered to be in graphic form at the moment. I have not collected them in a pdf or Word document as of yet. Once I finish the 2nd Edition, I plan on creating my own pdf and will release it in this thread for anybody who wishes to download it.
Currently each graphic is set as a 7"x10" jpeg and can be printed as a photo out of any photo printing software you might have. Hope this helps.

I'll probably release them as individual images and as a pdf file. Despite this being the 2nd Edition, I'm still relatively new to working with image rendering programs, so I'm still not quite sure how to prepare the final graphic for printing. Currently the psd (PhotoShop file) is a 72dpi file. I change the image size to 300dpi and then save it for the image to be printed. Things like compression and interlacing frighten me.
Any tips or input would be most appreciated.

I use InDesign for anything that has to be printed, too. It take s a little getting used to (coming from a photo editing software to a layout software), but the results are well worth the work... no more jaggy letters and numbers, and readable and usable at any size printed.

I'm brand-new to heroscape but am a longtime "wargamer" and this type of thing is great. Should be included right with the game / expansions themselves or at least on the hasbro site for download.
Keep up the good work.
I know that "3rd edition" rules are out now correct? From what i read the changes are minor, but you might want to think about what they might change about any future cards you work on.
Oh and as for the format... yea .pdf all the way.

To answer your question, we'll see what the future holds for Heroscape in general. I've been hearing a lot of doomsayers posting that the end is near. If Hasbro releases a 2nd FAQ, then I'll probably create a new edition to incorporate all the changes to rules and synergies. Alongside the 2nd Edition, I've run my own custom layout which I may release as a Special Edition layout. As for the rest of the 2nd, I plan on finishing out the current sets, including Marvel, SotM, and then moving on to one of my next projects I have planned.

Eeeks! Damn i hope heroscape doesnt die, i was getting the "this one might last" vibe from it. (Something i dont get from a lot of the other miniatures games out there)
One thing i was thinking was that they should transfer HS from their "Milton Bradly" Divison to WotC. Seems like Hasbro proper would eventually drop HS if it doesnt keep selling but in a smaller more "hardcore gamer smaller market" community it would work out fine long-term.

HL, these are Brilliant!!! Kudos to you for the work. I've always found the cards a little light on information wise, especially now that the unit numbers have grown. Having the synergies is a great help for unit selection, and I like the bio information being there too to help add to the flavour.
I'm just downloading the 2nd ed Dossiers now and I noticed that the revised 1.1 page for Raelin is still marked as 1.0 on the sheet. Is it the correct file, just without a numerical upgrade?
*edit* Just another thought, there is no identifier on the second pages to determine revision numbers on them. Will this become confusing as more are completed/revised?
Thanks again and please keep up the good work. I'm going to get some colour cartridges and get printing!

Currently there are no revision numbers on the 2nd page - poor planning on my part unfortunately. When I revise the first page and there is an applicable 2nd or 3rd page, I usually revise the file name itself to identify the revision.
I did indeed mess up on not updating the revision number on the first page. If you have already downloaded the other v1.1 of Raelin, it isn't necessary to download the corrected version unless you're an anal-retentive perfectionist like me.

Thanks for the reply HL, I just had a look at the file in the RotV zip and the revised page, and both Raelin files are named 1.1 but numbered 1.0 on the actual page when you view it. They seem to be identical, so I assume that's the current version?
Have I missed something here,or is it just too much caffeine and not enough sleep? 8)

Well just in the last week, my workload at my job just tripled. I work as an Inside Contractor Salesman at my city's local lumber yard. Up until last Friday I was working as support for our Outside Sales Manager and one other outside salesman. Thursday our GM called me in his office and asked if I planned on staying with the company or if my wife's job situation (another long story) would cause me to leave. I told him no and then he proceeded to tell me that my job is secure unless our corporate office closed our doors. The next day, he fired the other Inside Contractor Salesman and I inherited the 3rd and final salesman. Now they have a great bottleneck effect going as I handle every last order, p.o. and quote for materials. :excited: + :brickwall: = :frustrated: to the Nth degree.
As for this project, it has always been a double-check and triple-check type of job. The revisions I usually make are due to very minute details, but sometimes are large embarassing mistakes.
Right now I average about 5-1/2 to 6 hours of sleep a night. Throw in a 12 pack of Pepsi every 3 days and I'm good.

OMG Man, you're managing all that and doing such a tremendous job with this too? I'm seriously impressed.
I actually meant it was probably too much caffeine and not enough sleep on my part that was causing me to not see the real 1.1 version of the Raelin page somewhere.
I can certainly understand that the occasional glitch will creep in given the amount of information you are collating. I'm sure nobody would begrudge you that... 8)

“Thora’s Vengeance”
Can a Deathreaver attack another friendly Deathreaver to initiate Scatter?
No, a Deathreaver cannot attack another friendly Deathreaver. We have made a running change to the card. The updated text for scatter is:
SCATTER: After a Deathreaver you control rolls defense dice against a normal attack from an opponent’s figure, you may move any 2 Deathreavers you control up to 4 spaces each.

In the Rise of the Valkyrie (2nd edition 1.3) set I noticed in the download the Airborne Elite first page is actually the Izumi Samurai. Unless this has been corrected somewhere or already reported.

Now that the 2nd Edition has been finalized (pending any revisions), I would like to know your opinions of a few things.
1: Should there be Battle Dossiers created for the Fortress Door and the Breakable Wall Section?
2: Should I release the Special Edition (you might call it a 3rd Edition) Battle Dossiers? I had planned on using these for my own personal templates, but I wasn't sure if the masses would have any interest in them.
3: Aside from the the projects listed below, are there any other graphics-based projects you would like to see completed?
- Quick-Reference Synergy Guide
- Quick-Reference Glyph Guide
- HeroScape/MarvelScape Rules & FAQ Guide
- Battlefield Disection & Reformat (hack apart every user-submitted or official scenario and reconstruct them to include user-requested features, such as:

The quick reference guides sound like a great idea as does a combined rules reference and FAQ.
The battlefield dissection sounds like a LOT of work, but valuable. It may be of more use as an online product, that could be linked to the download locations of the maps.
You've done a fantastic job with the Dossiers HL. Adding more guides in the same style could turn this project into an Ultimate HS reference!

The major difference is the amount of text that can be fit on one page. This may eliminate multiple pages, but may not be noticable enough for those that already have the 1st or 2nd Editions. The SE (Special Edition) was given its name because I had toyed with the 2nd Edition layout just enough so that my personal dossiers didn't look like everybody else's.
I'm still playing with the layout, so it may not be worthwhile for me to release another rework, being that the 2nd was received with so much praise.

This project would be the last project that I work on, and will ultimately be a work in progress because of all the updated maps. But the main reason I'm doing it, is because I can't stand when I'm looking for a map and I can't narrow down a search enough, simply because certain aspects aren't listed or categorized.
You've done a fantastic job with the Dossiers HL. Adding more guides in the same style could turn this project into an Ultimate HS reference!

Thanks for the update HL, The glyph reference has become immediately useful, as I have been referring to a scan of the SotM rulebook, and playing some of the scenarios from the terrain expansions with my Son. It means not having to thumb through the RotV rulebook as well to refresh my memory about some of the nuances of playing the different glyphs.
This has also highlighted a use for a collated terrain rule guide, combining all the rules for different tile types in one document. Pity they didn't think of adding that in as an appendix for SotM seeing as it is now considered to be the most up to date rulebook.
Perhaps the different terrain types could have dossier pages too? I know we talked about a combined rulebook and FAQ earlier.
CORRECTION ALERT: Wave 1 Roman Legionnaires are listed as 'archers' and have the wrong collector numbers, should be 'soldiers' and 11, 12, 13, 14.

Thanks for catching that. Both the zip and rar were missing that file. I am currently working on the different terrain icons for the Terrain Guide. Since my scanner doesn't scan the hexes very well, I am having to create 3D versions of each type of terrain in PhotoShop. You should like these when I am finished.

Thanks for being a huge help on catching these corrections, Talos.
It's my pleasure to be able to help with proofing the work HL. The dossiers and guides are a MAMMOTH task and the fact that you are so happy to share the collated efforts with the Photoshop impaired, such as myself, and the rest of the Scaper community is gracious indeed. It is the least I can do.
It is one of the things I have come to respect since first purchasing Heroscape, there are so many talented, and generous people prepared to share their skills.
I've printed out a complete mono set of pages now and I'll be perusing them over the next few days, so if I pick anything else up, I'll pass it down.
I can't wait for the terrain guide. 8) All we need now is a really spectacular cover!!!

So the worst thing in the world happened to my PC this morning. Windows installed updates and required me to reboot my PC. The reboot brought up a BSOD (Blue-Screen-Of-Death) and now my HD is corrupted to wear I can't start my 1st PC. I removed the drive from my PC and installed it in my spare PC and am currently trying to find a program to restore the undamaged part of the HD.
Any help would be sweet.
If not, I've probably lost everything I've worked on for the last 6 months, as well as priceless photos of my son, my family and other important events.

Same thing happened to me a couple years ago. One thing you can try is to freeze the hard drive. Then install it quickly and try to get important data transfered off of it. I got mine to hold on for a little while and got some of my info off of it before it finally tanked.
I backup everything daily to an external now.

Have you tried just booting the pc with a knoppix disk or something? If it's only the mbr record that is corrupt, you should be able to mount the hd and copy anything important off it to another computer either via network or x-over cable.

The BSOD I received was "Unmountable Boot Volume". Never having experienced this wonder before, I checked on the internet at work and printed off Microsoft's known fixes for this problem.
It all came down to booting from the Windows disc and trying to chkdsk /r on the drive. After about 35%, it would stop and determine that the drive had errors that were unrecoverable. I then tried fixboot and that didn't work either. My last fix and where I am currently, was to bring my spare PC home from work, install the damaged drive in it as a slave and see if I could use it there. No avail, so I dowloaded a cheap recovery program and am currently trying to extract the files.

Good Luck with the recovery HL. I have never met with great success on the couple of occasions this happened to me, but I guess the software is better these days.
Freezing the drive may help, but use it as a weapon of last resort. It has been known to temporarily boost drive function when a failure has occured.

WOW! What an interesting last 24 hours.
When I reported last night, I had purchased a cheap file recovery program to try and save the intact files from my seemingly corrupt primary HD in my at-home PC.
Since it got too late last night, I took the PC to work and ran the program there. After I discovered what files were able to be saved, I transferred them to my good PC and then took the good PC and the corrupt drive home.
So I got home and had fully intended on reformatting the corrupted drive, to see if I could still salvage it and reinstall it in my home PC. Something inside of me (perhaps by divine intervention) decided to see if the PC would start one last time before wiping it.
Let's just say that here I sit typing on my home PC, no reformatting needed, no files lost. I transferred all the files from the internal My Documents to my external drive.
I must vent....

Just an update for everybody and anybody that's waiting for more releases on this project.
After battling several different layouts and severe creative block, I have decided to simplify this project (as it is intended to be) and just use pictures for the main figure, and then accompany each with all of its synergies in text form, but color-coded by synergy type.
I just finished the first (and only due to lack of figures) page for Aquilla, and should be steamrolling on this project now.
Sorry to keep everybody waiting.

Ok, the construction site has been cleaned up. The 2nd Edition links have been fixed and are now available for download. I will also have the 3rd set of pages up for the Synergy Guide in an hour or so. Sorry for the inconvenience.
We now return you to your regulary scheduled program.

Whew!
Now that I am finally finished with the Synergy Guide, I can seen over the hill and the end that is near. For the last leg of this ultimate guide, or whatever you guys have decided to call it, I will next be concentrating on the Rules & FAQ guide, and then finally, the Battlefield disection process.
Since the only reason why this guide has been created and updated, is for this outstanding community, I just wanted to get some input on if there are other elements of this guide that are missing.
One such section I recently thought of, but deemed that it could only be created after all of the unit strategies have been written, is a Unit Strategy Guide.
Please post your thoughts and suggestions on the future of the Ultimate Guide to Heroscaping.

Over the next few weeks you will be seeing some changes to this project. My goal is to compile all of the existing sections and guides into one "Heroscape Omnibus" and release it so that it is easier to handle.
Like the title says, the entire project will be called the Heroscape Omnibus and will contain all of the following current projects:
+ Section 1: Rules - Compilation of all Heroscape Rulesets into one easy-to-use seamless set of rules.
+ Section 2: Rule FAQs - Collection of current rule FAQs with answers straight from the official website.
+ Section 3: Quick Reference Guide: Glyphs - Easy-to-use Glyph identifier with photos and definitions.
+ Section 4: Quick Reference Guide: Terrain - Easy-to-use Terrain identifier with photos and definitions.
+ Section 5: Synergies - Comprehensive list of all figures and their synergies. Complete with photos and synergy explanations.
+ Section 6: Thormun's Journal - The entire story of Heroscape from beginning to current product storylines.
+ Section 7: Heroscape Checklist - Current checklist of every released set broken down by figures and terrain.
+ Section 8: Glossary of Terms - Contains entries and explanations of every term used in the Heroscape storyline and gaming world.
+ Supplement 1: Official Battlefields & Scenarios - Contains all battlefields and scenarios released by the official website.
+ Supplement 2: Battle Dossiers - The original project that started it all. Full-page supplements complete with Army Card information, character bios, special power rulings, and synergies.
+ Supplement 3: Battle Cards - Trading card sized Army Cards inspired by the original designs of Lord Raidor and Raudulfr Shieldcrusher. Ideal for use on traveling GameDays.
+ Supplement 4: Hit Zones - Hi-Resolution scans of every Army Cards' Hit Zone.
+ Supplement 5: Photo Gallery - Multiple photos of every Army Card, official figure pics, and more.
Eventually the Heroscape Omnibus will expand to provide individual figure strategies, breakdowns of user submitted battlefields & scenarios, and more.
I appreciate everybody that has helped to contribute to this project and everybody that has downloaded any of the previously released material. I will keep you all updated with individual posts to this thread.

As a matter of fact I was. I've seen what an awesome job you all have been doing on them, so I figured when the time was right, I would ask permission to include them in the Book. I would like to wait until the majority of them are finished though, so that will definitely be a future section.

Hey all. It's been a while since I last logged on. First off great idea Heroscape Lunatic, I love the idea, and had something similar in mind when we revamped the BOOKS title page. I didn't want the page to be overly crowded so I only included a few valuable links, but your idea is excellent. I don't know if this has been mentioned/suggested but would it be possible to find another title for the sticky other than 'The Book of Heroscape'? I mean I don't want folks getting confused. Especially for the newbs who ask questions and are later referred to check out the 'Books'.
Maybe 'The Library of Valhalla',.... or the 'HeroLodex'? LOL

This is an insane project. Thanks very much for all your work on it.
+ Supplement 4: Hit Zones - Hi-Resolution scans of every Army Cards' Hit Zone. This would be cool in an uncompressed format, like .bmp files instead of .jpg files, so they resize without much quality loss. Hasbro never did a very good job with the individual hitzone images they use to have on the old website. They aren't even doing them separately anymore, opting for just full card scans now.
Eventually the Book of Heroscape will expand to provide individual figure strategies, breakdowns of user submitted battlefields & scenarios, and more. The user submitted battlefields and scenarios has me curious...

Have you considered possibly using a wiki style database to allow others to collect links for you and then cut/pasting the final project to this thread? It's just allot of work for one man. :) Ant then when you're done.. things change constantly.

I saw that it might pose as a problem as well.
How about:
"The Tome of Heroscape"
"The Heroscape Omnibus"
"The Heroscape Compendium"
"The Heroscape Scrolls"
This is an insane project. Thanks very much for all your work on it.

I will use the .bmp file extension for the hit zone files.

This section will basically be for those (myself included) that spend countless hours looking through all of the battlefields looking for ones that meet certain needs. A lot of respect goes to those that spend painstaking time out of their HS playing schedule to make the maps and just forget to include certain details like the amount of players recommended for the map, the amount of each type of hex required to make the map, and VS files & PDFs for every map. This will be a huge project for sure!

I vote for the Heroscape Omnibus. It describes nicely what's included and fits well with the "we'd like you to use and understand the language you grew up with" mentality that's held by the mass populace of Heroscapers.

Omnibus: An anthology of previously released material linked together by theme or author, especially in book form.
Compendium: A concise, yet comprehensive compilation of a body of knowledge. A compendium may summarize a larger work.
I guess either fits. I personally think Compendium has a nicer ring to it.
I got the definitions from Wikipedia.

Nothing is available for download yet. I'm still toying with the idea of taking this project offsite and creating its own site or forum-like area, plus I'm tweaking little bits here and there. I'd like to have a error-free version before I release the project.
Oh, and just as a verification on the Battle Cards Supplement - I printed off 6 copies of them this week and they came out gorgeous! Hopefully everybody likes them.

HS Lunatic, what a GREAT idea! When and where can I download or at least view your COMPLETED sections? I just got my first Master Set 2 weeks ago and am hooked on Heroscape. I already went out and grabbed a couple of expansion packs. I had no problem with the Basic game rules and this past weekend played with the Master rules. Needless to say, even though I have read the rulebook several times, Im still not clear on quite a few things and could really use some help. Your book sounds like it would do the trick. I realize you want to put out a finished, polished, product, but is there anyway you could just put it out in sections?
Please let me know as soon as it is available. Thanks.

For everybody that is waiting, I just thought I would let you know that I am putting the finishing touches on a small website/forums where you will be able to view the Omnibus section by section, or download each section as you please. There will also be a Developmental section that is designed to keep you up to date on projects and what stage they are at for upcoming release. And of course there is a discussion area where you will be able to talk about HS or whatever you want.
Once the site is up, you will need to register in order to check the Omnibus itself. I'd prefer that you register with the same usernames that you use on this site, simply so it makes it easier to recognize the people I'm familiar with.
NOTE: This site is not meant to compete with Heroscapers.com, due to the fact that a) I never could, b) I don't want to, and c) Heroscapers is such a great site and I enjoy its community.
The link to my site should be up by the end of the weekend.
