View Full Version : Help Me Build a Flexible 400-450 point Army

With school starting back it's only a matter of time before our first Game Club session. We usually build a large map and play (about 5 or 6 of us) for an hour and a half or two hours. It's usually a 400-450 point army each (obviously we'll use scoring because we'd never finish). I don't like sitting in the drafting line for 15 minutes while everyone picks, so I plan on bringing my own armies.
So my question is, what do you think would make my army flexible enough for this kind of thing. You know, bring a couple of interchangable guys for different scenarios or to counter-draft or whatever.
Kaemon Awa and Crixus are a must for me. I'm also thinking about the Warriors of Ashra. In my last few sessions I've grown fond of the Anubian Wolves and Koshumet, so I'm considering them as well. If you're wondering what figures I have, see my signature. I have one of each listed.

How many Minutemen & Wolves do you have to work with? And how many squads of zombies and Tagawa Samurai Archers?

Jusat one of each, well, two zombie squads. I don't have the funds to buy multiples so I'm just trying to get one of each right now. I have one of everything that's listed in my sig, I think I mentioned that above, but it may have slipped my mind.

I suggest making Kaemon Awa, Crixus, and Krav Maga Agents your lifers. At the 400-point level, that leaves you 90 points to work with. The No. 1 contender for that last spot would definitely be Raelin. How can you say no when she boosts Kaemon's counterstrike, Crixus' one shield defense, and the Krav's stealth dodge? Still, if you wanted to go for more of a swarm attack, Deathreavers x1 and Marro Warriors would boost your numbers and bring you right to 400.
At 450, you're looking at your core plus 140 points. Again, Raelin would be my first pick, perhaps accompanied by Izumis for a melee build or Me-Burq-Sa to sit in her aura and snipe. For a split between melee and range squads, you could fit in samurai archers plus either wolves or Dzu-Teh. Or maybe go Aubriens/4th Mass, although I definitely don't think that would be as effective on offense as a Raelin build. You could even switch in the Imperium if you felt like you were in a good situation to use them, but I'd rather have Syvarris/Theracus if flight is required.

I really don't play 400-450 point games so I really can't help you that much but, what I can tell you is if you have a high point character (above 100 points) you should probably draft reilen cause he will keep that character alive.
