View Full Version : HS.com Poll 07-03-06 How Long Have You Been Playing ...
Malechi
July 3rd, 2006, 10:29 AM
I added an unofficial poll above, just to see how we match up to the Hasbro results ...
How long have you been playing Heroscape?
• I'm just checking out the web site. I've never played.
• I just started playing.
• I've been playing for about 6-8 months now.
• When was I not playing? I've been playing since the game hit the shelves.
Current Hasbro Results, as of 07/06/06:
• I'm just checking out the web site. I've never played. - 5%
• I just started playing. - 14%
• I've been playing for about 6-8 months now. - 38%
• When was I not playing? I've been playing since the game hit the shelves. - 42%
I figured I would mention the new poll as it is very well hidden within the Downloads & More (http://www.hasbro.com/heroscape/default.cfm?page=da) section and not on the front page (it was replaced by the Xtreme Desktop link). Here is the direct link to the Poll (http://www.hasbro.com/heroscape/content/poll.cfm).

i was browsing the downloads&more section today, but i typically dont bother with the Poll, unless it gets mentioned over here. I went with the last option, since it suits me to most. I've been playing since December '04, but IIRC, the game was released in August of '04

Yea, there's quite a gap between "it came out" and "6-8 months." IIRC, I picked HS up in March or April of 2005.

I am right there with you! I was finally able to pick up the Master Set mid-October '04 after searching since August! Much like I am doing currently with Thaelenk Tundra! I consider myself as correctly responding to the final answer because that is when it hit the shelves ...here!

I was a member (#5) of .net about 3 weeks before the Master set was released. The 5 members of ,net were cbs42, me, RobD, Hero, and Craig.. New people joined up every other day or so. It wasslow at first, but once the game was released it was incredible how many people found us.

I'm sure GB can give you a fairly (if not spot on) accurate date - but it was late July or early August of 2004.
For the poll purposes I selected the from the git-go, but it was actually Xmas of '04. (Scheming to get it from September though :) )
Stumbled across .net while looking for information about Wave 1 in January of 2005.

None of the above? I got my first set after it had been out a few months, but it's been decidedly longer than 8 months. It was right about Wave 1, though. It was February 05 when I started, which puts my start date over six months from its release.

started in late Dec '04 (was a Christmas present for 8 yr. old son).
by the time my interest in the game increased enough to get expansions, i could not find any Malliddon in stores and waited nearly 2 months for an online seller to restock. Utgar was not yet released.
joined HS.net in late May '05.

Well I clicked the last option, even though it's not entirely true. I read about the game in December of 2004, and finally bought a copy in February of 2005. So it's been more like 16 months.
I was just thinking the other day that this time last year I was wondering if i would ever have roads, trees, and lava. Now I'm wondering if I will ever have castles.

I also voted the Last Option but actually bought my first Master Set in an After-Christmas sale at Walmart the 1st Christmas the game was out.
I think I paid $17.50 for it.- I hope at some point the Local Walmart will want to reduce the price again -I don't think they have sold any master sets in months as they have overstock on top of the shelf since the 2005 Christmas and still have a couple of E.O.V. sets sitting up there

I've been playing since finding the game at the first TRU BOGO, October 04. I had read press about it before release at BoardGameGeek and thought the terrain looked dorky. Then I saw it in person and changed my mind. Enjoyed the game ever since.

Yeah. Polls that don't cover all the options really bug me.
Especially when I fall into a category not covered by the options given, like with this poll. I've been playing for over a year, but not since HeroScape first appeared. So, I flipped a coin and voted for the last option.

and

Also we had to walk butt naked, without heroscape snow, climing up elevations.. BOTH WAYS. We didn't have any waves at all. Young wiper snapers.

I finally found Heroscape in Walmart in September of 2004. Wow, has it been two years already. Those first few weeks of waiting for it to get to my area were the worst. I was hitting Walmart on a daily basis. Opening the box and seeing what you get for your $40 was amazing. Coolest game opening ever!!!

And after the "high" of opening a game filled with so many cool bits (that I got for "Buy-1-get-1" was nearly equally matched by the "low" of not being able to fit it all back in the box again. A big plastic tub soon replaced the HS boxes. . .

I've been wanting to get the game since it hit the shelves under the guise of it was for my son. Finally this past April my wife gave in and let me get it (for my son....hehe) So we've only been playing since then however, I feel like we've done a years worth of playing in only three months. Every pay period I get a different expansion. Once we have all that is available we'll start to double up. Bonus!!!! I get to use the miniatures in my D&D campaigns cause I just don't have the time to paint anymore. Must be cause I'm playing HS in my spare time. Hmmm.

I got involved in November of 2004. I saw the game being reviewed in BoardGameGeek.com and realized that Rob and Craig were involved. I was a huge fan of Star Wars Epic Duels and Rob and Craig had a big hand in that. About a week later I saw the game in Walmart and bought it. That night I played it and loved it and went googling for heroscape to see about expansions. That's when I found .net. I've been playing the game ever since although I haven't played much lately. Sorry if I dropped off the site during the last few months of HQ but I lost interest with the numerous amounts of off topic posts and lack of actual heroscape threads. This board seems much more organized and I'm enjoying catching up on everything. Glad to be back!

I got my first Master Set around October of '04. It was one of the best "game openings" ever! So many cool parts and cards and terrain! What's this guy do? I don't know! What about this thing? That looks cool! Ooooo! Aaaahh!
I got one set of Wave 1 in early spring of '05....when exactly did it hit shelves?
I started lurking around on .net shortly thereafter, and got Wave 2 as soon as it hit shelves...summer '05 I believe? I followed that up with Wave 2.5 that same summer.
As fall of 2005 neared, I had begun accumulating extra commons bit by bit. I then got Lava around September 2005, doubled up on virtually everything I owned at the TRU twofer, and got Wave 3 right after that.
I got a Nerak from Markwars (thanks!) around the time of the TRU event.
Christmas of '05 saw me getting an EOV set.
The end of 05 and beginning of 06 saw me finish off basically all of my extra common needs.
Late February or so I picked up a full set of Wave 4, then got some extra commons of it in March/April.
How time flies.

Like many others, Christmas of '04. Got the game for my son because it looked like something he'd like and that I wouldn't mind playing with him. Opened the box, eyes popped out. Read rules, jaw hit floor. Went online, found .net. It was the first board/online communit I've ever been a part of too.
So yeah, I clicked option four.

Playing since we got it Dec 04, I lurked .net for a bit then joined in Feb '05. After a short bit the boyfriend had bragging rights: "not only does she play the game with me, she's a mod on the site, how cool is that?" He's so cute.
Hero started the .net site after seeing Heroscape demoed somewhere, I'm not sure where/when. He first found a copy on the shelves of Walmart in early August '04.
