View Full Version : The Valhalla Times: NEW ISSUE

I've been getting requests for the old issues of the Valhalla Times, so I have placed them up in the gallery. I intended to make more, but when I was working on the December '05 issue I felt there was too much re-hashing and my jokes just didn't seem fresh anymore. But despite my having no desire to continue the paper, I keep getting more requests for it, and even more requests from people who want to contribute. So...

The Times is coming back. It's lived through two iterations of this community and it would be a shame for that to end now. August will mark the return of the Times, but it will also be my last issue. I plan on releasing my templates to the community and letting you guys (you funny bastards) start creating your own material. This way the Valhalla Times stays, but I don't have the pressure of being funny on a monthly basis.

Fantastic!
I was really glad to see these in the Gallery - the Humor section was horrifically incomplete without these classics there!

An Open Letter to the Editor:

Dear Mr. Bistro,

Say it ain't so! Givin' up on the Valhalla Times is like the Generals sayin' Beckoning Heroes just ain't worth the effort!

Please reconsider, even a quarterly rag slipped into the Codex would make for a great read! At least play Editor and Chief; accept the articles from members and create the Valhalla Times yourself with bylines for the original authors! As Editor and Chief, you have the ability to edit the articles to fit the Valhalla Times style. Simply having the template available will deteriorate the value of all past Valhalla Times, much like what many of these mooks do to Custom Units simply because thay have access to the Army Card templates!

A Very Concerned Long Time Subscriber

The new phone book's here!

GREAT to see a new issue, bistro :toast:

Some good lines here -
"Screams for help rang out from the cloud of steam that erupted from..." is classic.

Ki-Mo Cars just makes me still baffled at what she'd use that weird green staff for.

Anfd hopefully, there will be seige engines soon - but you'd think if they were coming out, they'd come out closer to the Castles than is on the horizon....

I can't figure out how to send private messages or I'd ask that way. Perhaps I can submit something for a future issue if you're interested. Besides being a Heroscape fan, I'm a professional comic and comedy writer for tv show.

What show?

It's premieres in January, assuming it doesn't get pushed back again. It's called The Way Late Show with Spike Davis. He's a comedian that has had a show on BET and done a bunch of other stuff. It'll be sort of like a mix between the Chapelle Show and a talk show. It may not turn into anything huge but at least I can put it on my resume.

I appreciate the applause folks. Headcold, feel free to bring your humor to this site in your own unique medium. I'm sure you could think of something new and exciting, and if there's one thing we appreciate here it's beer. But after that we like humor too.
