View Full Version : Kelda and Taelord

So I finally got my Heroes of Bleakwoode in the mail today, and I'm trying to think of how I can use the other three aside from Tornak and Marcus, whom I've already go orc-and-soldier-related plans for. I've read that Kelda makes a great supportive ally for using Jotun so you can keep him alive and swinging longer, but who else makes good use of the healer? At 80 points she's not so pricey, but I imagine you'd wanna use her in a team reliant on one or more particular heroes. Who might she sync with best? 450 points preferred, but any kinda army you got I'd like to hear your idea.
As for Taelord, he really bothers me. He has the same stats as Raelin, only with a +1 attack aura instead of a +2 defense aura... yet he costs 100 points more! A 4-range attack aura is really nice, but it's only a +1, and Raelin's defense boost can be just as nice at her price. Is he intended mainly for high-cost armies or is he just overpriced like Spartacus?

Well, for Kelda, it's best to either pair her with big, strong, figures with lots of life, or a ranged hero on a hill, so she doesn't have to move much.
Taelord is considered overpriced by many, but he'd be good up in a castle, with squads like the Omnicron Snipers and 4th Line. Really, anyone with guns.
Whoa... deja vu!

Yeah, I was thinking he'd be best for ranged enhancement, since you have Finn and Gilbert for melee enhancement. I'm starting to look forward to getting those snipers, they're sounding more fierce each time I think about them!

When using Taelord you want to wring the utmost advantage of having extra attack dice to roll. For example...
Taelord - 180
Minions of Utgar(2x) 220
Omnicron Snipers 100
Total: 500 points
Venoc Warlord goes great with scouts and frenzy units. One of my favorite armies for example...
Venoc Warlord - 120
Aubrien Archers(2x) - 140
Venoc Vipers(2x) - 80
Kaemon Awa - 120
Theracus - 40
Total: 500 points
I can vouch that Kelda is great when playing with alliances. One person can control the heavy hitting, high life heroes while the other uses Kelda to heel them. Though I confess that I haven't used her in any other situation.

I've seen some great things from an army that consisted of Kelda, Charos, and Braxas. ;)

A pretty cool army with Kelda:(I got this idea from PoF, but not the same figures)
Kelda - 80
Saylind - 80
Braxas - 210
Krug - 120
Isamu - 10
---------------------
500 points
You hide Saylind and Kelda behind a ruin or out of trouble. Then send Braxas to just Acid Breath as much as it can. Once Braxas gets high in wounds, have Saylind summon her back to your starting zone, and then heal her with Kelda. Repeat until Braxas dies. The do the same with Krug. Once Krug dies, you send Isamu, Kelda, and Saylind to clean up.

Kelda is very good with Braxas, Charos and Jotun for obvious reasons, but I also find her very fun with Q9. He is difficult to wound, and it really frustrates your opponent when you heal him a couple times. If you're mixing Marvel with Heroscape, she works wonders with all of those guys.

Sounds great! I don't know about combining her with Krug, though; you want to get heavy damage laid upon him! Unless you're ninja enough to sweep him up and heal him to go out and get hurt again, but if he's got 7 wounds on him I want to try and get at least one (double) attack out of him.

What a coincidence, I just whipped this up last night.
Angels and demons deluxe
-Taelord 180
-Runa 120
-Raelin 80
-Kelda 80
-minions of Utgar(2) 220
-sentinels of Jandar(2) 220
-krav maga agents 100
TOTAL 1000
Kelda and Taelord are a great team, because your opponent will always attack Taelord first.

The thing about Krug is that even though he becomes more powerful as he takes damage, it's still good to prevent him from dying. If you can get him onto a glyph of Kelda when he's down to one life left, it will surely cause your opponent to sigh unless he's got tons of ranged units.
However, I'm not sure if it's really worth wasting an order marker on Kelda when you could be out wreaking havoc with Krug. Get a teammate to do it.
As for Taelord, I'm half-contemplating making a house rule that makes him cost 80 points. It really does seem almost like a typo, and the devs seem to hint at that at times.

That seems a bit excessive. Maybe if his aura was 3 spaces, but never under 100. However, we can all agree that Runa is barely worth 80 points.
What is it with Utgar kyrie? I wish there was a figure for Taelord's daughter or something, who comes for free if you draft both.

SPAWN OF TAELORD
This figure does not start the game on the battlefield, instead she is "produced" when Taelord and Runa are out of LOS, and the roll is always successful, baby!
