View Full Version : Question about Captain America

The group that I play with got in a disagreement last night about using Captain America. He has that special shield throw where he can attack up to three people, but it must be a different person each time. If Captain America is engaged to someone, can he still use that power to attack other people that he is not engaged to? Or can he not use that power while engaged since he MUST attack the person he is engaged too. We were split down the middle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

He has to attack those that he is engaged to. For example if he is engaged to only 1 figure and and does not kill that figure then he cannot attack anyone else, even if 2 other figures are only 3 spaces away.

QFT

Also, each figure has its own thread, called A Book, that is a really good to ask questions specific figures.

Here is Captain America's Book thread.

Yep, Nilfheim had the same question come up and the official answer was the same as what these guys have told you here.
Small note - in the future please take rules sections to the Marvel Rules and FAQ section. Now that you have your answers, I'll be relocating this one.

Don't remember, So I'll ask it anyway. If Captain America is adjacent to 3 figures can he use his Shield Throw. I could look it up, but thats at least 7-10 clicks away from where I'm at now...

He definitely can.

YES! *Pumps fist in the Air!* I knew it!

Thanks so much... saved me the trouble of having to look it up. Which I could have done an hour ago. 8)

Captain America can use his Shield Throw if he's adjacent to one figure. He'd just be kind of dumb too, since he could only attack once with it, unless the first attack kills the figure he's adjacent to, freeing him from engagement, and allowing him to attack other figures at range.

edit: of course, since Shield Throw is a special attack, it's a good way to get around Counterstrike.

yup and an attack of 4 isn't all that bad.

true, if he's engaged with an Arrow Grut or a Venoc, I'd definitely go for the shield throw. Same with Samurai for the aforementioned counterstrike concern.

if engaged with only 1 figure why not take the step back suck the 1 engagement swipe and shield bash all 3 the silly saps? only reason i could see for not doing that is if capt only had 1 life left. but that's just me i guess.

Or if Cap's standing on a glyph.

Or if Cap doesn't want to take a 50% chance of one damage, because he thinks he has a better shot at standing up to the defense of the others. Remember he's got counterstrike too, so squaddies with low attacks are going to have a better chance of killing themselves than him with adjacent attacks.
