For what it is worth, the vendor at the local Phantom of the Attic comic book store in Parkway Center mall, Greentree PA told me today that he expects to receive his Marvel sets next week- the first week of August. Usually, if product gets as far from China as PA, it is gonna be EVERYWHERE, but that's just my observations about things in the past. This Marvel HS distribution system seems to entail strapping the boxes onto the back of several arthritic snails, so who knows?

I would hope for the first week of August. It also takes a super long time for stuff to get here in northern NJ. I just made a trip to the local Walmart, Target, and TRU, buut found nothing.

I FINALLY MANAGED TO SNAG A COPY!!! Yesterday, 8/1, at the Phantom of the Attic Game Store (They also have several comic book stores) in Oakland, PA!! The floodgates should be opening anytime now.

So far, my only complaint is that they need to post three-four player scenarios using MS terrain on the official website soon.

Well Wal-marts will be waiting for their toys mods to drop. Some overnighters will stick the stuff elsewhere though, so it depends on how INCOMPETENT the stockers are, the better they are the more likely they are to wait.

I wish I could get one to "look in the back" for me. All I get when I ask is the old "what we have is on the shelf."

Lying baztdidges.

I picked up a copy of MarvelScape at a Target here on Long Island Friday night so they are getting out there.

While that is actually normally true, we are not supposed to sell stuff that is not on mod. Well new stuff at least.

Anyways, if you want to know if something is out, look for little dots on the shelf tags, anything that is blue, is out and on order, anything that is red has a computer onhand but no one can find it. After 3 days they are zeroed out and we order them. If no dot is present then it sold recently and hasn't been checked yet. Also, your store may not be doing this.

But then, most associates are lazy, we don't get paid enough to work :D

I got a set today at a local WM.

Many Wal-Marts are restocking their toy sections and doing a big reorganization. Mine had tons of empty shelves in the game section and a piece of paper showing the upcoming layout. There was a tab on the shelf for Marvel Heroscape with a stock number, so I asked at the customer service desk to see if they could tell me if that item was in the back...I gave them the number, the name, the price, and all other info from the shelf tag and paper. They instead sent me to an employee in that section. She wasn't very helpful and showed me Spider-Man Sorry and Spider-Man Operation.

I then talked to her section manager/supervisor and she gave me the old "if it's not on the shelf we don't have it" line. I asked if maybe because they were reorganizing there was a chance it had arrived and simply wasn't out yet. She said no, there weren't any in the back. Given that she gave that answer without even walking to the back or checking any sort of device, I had a hunch she was just lazy and/or lying, so I went to another section and asked their manager. He was able to tell me that Marvel Heroscape was coming to the shelf and he knew it was in a box in the back, but that the process of getting it to the shelf could take up to a week as that whole section was being rearranged. I asked him if he could get one for me from the shipping box, telling him I was here now, cash in hand, wanting to buy it, but that I may not be able to return later in the week and I certainly don't want to call every day waiting to find out about it. He said he couldn't unpack the box, nor could the toy lady, and that she nor he couldn't hold one for me at customer service either. He apologized but wouldn't budge on that. I asked to speak to his manager.

So I finally got to talk to their boss, the king of kings, the Great and Powerful Wizard of OZ, the store manager. I told him I was ready to buy the product, explained that he had the product, and we both laughed over that not somehow equalling a sale and a satisfied customer. He said he had to check to make sure there were no notices telling him not to put Marvel on the floor until a certain date, like there are with Star Wars Toys or various video games or other media. He checked, found no such notices, then he took the scowling section supervisor in the back and they came out with a handful of Marvel sets...he smiled and carried his, talking about how he's planning on getting one to fill the void left when he sold his Heroclix collection. The toy lady? Well she stared daggers at me and carried hers, muttering to herself as she stuck them rather roughly on the shelf...I'm glad for her sake she was out of her boss' eyeline while she was being so surly. I bought one, thanked him, and was on my way.

All in all a very lengthy but ultimately fruitful Wal-Mart experience....I just wish I'd been able to start by talking to the manager rather than having to work my way up to him. The toy lady lied, I called her bluff, and yet she gets pissed at me.....go figure. Oh well...Marvel's in my hands and it's awesome.

I work at a Target and we have scanners that will tell you if we have something in the back of the store that's just not out yet. If you have the DPCI number you can type it into those red scanner thingies. That said I HATE the level of customer service Wal-Mart gives. Now I know that Target can be crap too if your in one staffed by nitwits but it just seems to me that the people at the Wal-Marts I've frequented are about the least helpful ones I've seen, ever. I tend to go there because they have thigns on clearance at absurd prices, Mostly due to the fact that they are so far behind where they are supposed to be that thigns drop further in price than they should due to the whole process being done later than it should.

Just so you know, for future reference. The only time stores aren't allowed to sell you something is when it has a Street Date. Usually it's jsut Movies, books, Video Games, that have these dates. Some hardware can have dates too like the X-Box 360 and the like. Also if it's out in one area of the country than a department store should be able to sell it in another part of the country.

Good to see you finally got the game. I'd not feel bad in the slightest about ticking off the Toy Lady and Section Managers. There's no excuse for not getting the product for a customer.

Those Target scanners are great.....a Heroscape hunter's best friend. I've used them many times to find items they have in the backroom, and I've never had any trouble getting a Target person to go back and get the item for me.

My theory is that workers who aren't forced into a hive mind mentality will actually try to please the customer more than those that are. I'll bet you that Target doesn't have pep rallies.

Thanks god my store doesn't do those anymore. I used to avoid them like the plague. Mostly they just tell us whether our profit margin was up, and who in the district was up, but then that gorram cheer. They are right though, it unites the associates . . against management.

EDIT: Why did you get married at Wal-mart?

I didn't. My brother's friend got a little trashed and decided to share it with everyone in the middle of the reception :(

Somebody at WalMart's upper management must've really bought in to the pep rallies at their school. Did they not look behind them to see the huge percentage of students looking bored and/or amazed at the level of sheer stupidity at a place of supposed 'learning'? All the pep rallies did for me was to yank me out of art class. I would've LOVED to have skipped those pointless things and get back to class.

Ugh...I hated pep rallies. So pointless. I think they should have been voluntary...that way folks that wanted to cheer would have gone and perhaps the team would actually be motivated. As it was, they were mandatory and so you got a lot of folks just sitting in the stands staring at the rafters waiting for it to end and wondering why we had to miss art class or study hall or cut short our lunch for this.

I hid from the pep rallies when I was in school, they never found me in the CAD room playing video games.

You are one lucky SOB. I sat through every single one of those rotten things, supposably cheering on the popular kids. If anyone wonders what causes school violence I would point them squarely at the pep rallies. What better way to enhance the distinction between social classes than to force EVERYONE to cheer for the beautiful people?

They can make me go to a pep rally, but they can't make me cheer.

I work at Target, and we call our pep rallies, "Huddles". They essentially are only held if something bad is happening, a district boss is coming in, or some kind of policy is changing. Some pep rally huh?

As for school pep rallies, I guess it was just very easy for me to skip them. Outdoor high school, and they would just release the students to goto the gym or stadium. Yea right, my friends and I knew that day the pep rally was going to be held and parked at a neighboring apartment complex. Then we just exited James Bond style... well when he leaves without having to shoot his gun and all that...
