If Jotun throws a figure into lava does the figure roll the d20 right away?
Because the rules say when you move into a lava space you must end your turn immediately and roll the d20.
But if a figure is thrown into the lava it isn't that figure's turn and on their next turn could they possibly move out of the lava if there is a regular field piece next to the molten lava tile they are on?

I don't know the official answer, but I would think that you roll immediately.

I would say the answer to both is yes. I was playing a game with my kids, their uncle, and their cousins, when the Jotun situation came up. My son had his Roman archer tossed in moten lava. He rolled right away and rolled a 20 (the only time I've ever seen someone survive lava.) Jotun then tried to pound him with his attack and the archer still survived---at least until Jotun's next turn.

wow! that's one tuff little archer. you should give him a repaint and customize a unique hero army card for him.

Thanks for clearing that up! This hasn't come up in any of my games yet and both bits of info will be very useful!

I would also say yes to rolling immediately. If you think about it realistically, you start to burn when you touch the lava, not on your next turn. Aside from whatever Hasbro might say, that is how we would do it at my house.

That's true but If you carry someone onto a lava field they don't roll for lava field damage at the end of their turn because it isn't their turn.

Except you only roll for Lava Fields at the end of a Round not Turn and every figure on Lava Fields rolls (unless the figure is immune.)

The lava field roll doesn't occur until the end of the round - but the molten lava roll occurs as soon as the figure is placed (I think, don't play much with the lava tiles.)
EDIT: Read the molten lava rules: When a figure moves onto a molten lava space, you must roll for molten lava damage. Looks like another move/place interpretation. Which, the more situations like this come up, I think are meant to be equivalent.

How did I read right past that in the rules?

3. Are thrown figures subject to Terrain damage (like Lava)?
A: Yes. You would roll for Terrain damage (if any) after any throwing damage....
